Castro’s Six Nations cut short
12 Feb 2012
Italy’s Martin Castrogiovanni is likely to miss the rest of the Six Nations after breaking a rib in their defeat to England on Saturday.
The prop, widely regarded as one of the game’s best, wore a look of anguish as he was forced from the field in the 33rd minute. He will have scans to assess the severity of the injury on Sunday, but Italy coach Jacques Brunel said ‘it will be difficult for him to recover in time for the other matches.’
Italy have away matches against Ireland and Wales then host Scotland to finish the tournament.
