Sarries edge Wasps

Fullback Alex Goode kicked 17 points as Saracens beat Wasps 22-17 on Sunday.

Captained by former Springbok skipper John Smit, Saracens led 16-14 at half-time. Wasps outscored the visitors in terms of tries during this period, and it was Goode’s boot that eventually proved the difference.

Wasps only managed to add three more points in the second stanza, while Goode ensured Saracens remained in front with two more penalties.

In other Premiership matches played over the weekend, Harlequins beat London Irish 30-23 while Exeter recorded another victory over Leicester when they downed the Tigers 19-11. Gloucester won a tight battle 27-24 against Northampton.

Gary Gold’s Newcastle were beaten 30-24 by Bath despite leading 14-8 at half-time. Sale edged Worcester 15-12 in a tryless match on Friday.
