Toulouse stretch Top 14 lead

A 21-10 win over Agen has allowed Toulouse to move eight points clear on the Top 14 leaderboard.

Springboks Daan Human and Shaun Sowerby featured prominently in what was a comfortable victory for Toulouse at the Stade Ernest-Wallon. The win sees Toulouse moving up to 69 points on the log, eight ahead of second-placed Clermont.

Meanwhile, Joe van Niekerk’s Toulon snatched a late try and conversion to draw 19-19 with Stade Francais. Bayonne drew 22-22 with Clermont in similar fashion after Sam Gerber dotted down in the 78th minute.

Ricky Januarie scored a brilliant try for Lyon but it wasn’t enough to stop Racing Metro from winning the game 33-22. Another former Bok in Jacques Cronje also scored a try in this match.

In England, Francois Louw’s Bath went down 14-11 to Gloucester. Former Bok assistant coach Gary Gold had more success with Newcastle, who held out for a 19-10 win over London Irish. Gold formerly coached London Irish before joining the Stormers in 2005.

In the Pro 12, Munster bulldozed Treviso 35-14. Willem de Waal kicked two conversions while Corniel van Zyl scored a try for the losers.

Some actually do. Once you watch a few French games with Bakkies packing behind Carl Hayman, Joe v Niekerk & George Smith on the side and the human cannonball Bastareaud in the centers, one does manage to widen perspective and enjoy rugby as a spectacle.
