Hello to all the rugby surporters! I read most of the posts (when about rugby) and we all have our own opinion. If I have to choose a conference winner, I’ll go for the……Stormers

Cheetahs – Positives: Front row of Oosthuizen, Strauss, Nel. The boot of Johan Goosen. Heinrich Brussouw. Negatives: Locks international quality? Injury of Juan Smith. Didn’t look too hot in pre-season game against Bulls.

Lions – Positives: Gained momentum in Currie Cup and proved that they can beat “bigger” teams. Team playing together since last year. Taute, Jantjes, Kilian, Strauss and Minnie. Negatives: Lack of depth. Currie Cup is not Super Rugby.

Bulls – Positives: New backline has more attacking skills – if they stop kicking. Morne Steyn goal kicking abilities. Negatives: First year together. Lost all those experienced players. No Matfield line-outs. Depth of tight five.

Stormers – Positives: Enough experience. A fit Bekker and Vermeulen. Habana on outside centre. Pietersen at fullback. Negatives: Front row. No 10 who can controle the game – I would prefer the Greek Ikey.

Sharks – Positives: Experienced team. No John Smit. No Meyer Bosman or Adi Jacobs at midfield? The combo of Lambie / Michalak. Negatives: Injuries to Beast, Deysel and Alberts. Quality locks?

I am quietly optimistic about the Bulls’ chances, but when predicting scores with my head, I’d have to say that the Stormers and Sharks are the safe bets for the play-offs. Would still be disappointed if the Bulls dont finish in the top half of the log…

It’s a hard one to call. Sharks do have a good team, Stormers will be better once Elstadt and De Jongh are back, the Bulls actually looked to be the strongest side during the warm-ups and the Lions and Cheetahs are on the up.

I’d go for Sharks topping the conference, with Stormers and Bulls fighting it out for second, but the Cheetahs could be a dark horse.

Sharks will lose too many games you would’ve expected them to win… many through not having a stand-out goal kicker – sorry Lambie.

Would be surprised if the Bulls don’t finish tops.

Howzit my saffa buddies. Just thought I’d come check out what was happening over this neck of the woods.

I was expecting to see quite a few unfamiliar names for the bulls. Is actually quite a strong team. Who does evenryone in SA think is going to top your conference? Whispers in oz are saying its the year of the shark maybe, but i think stormers are a safe bet.

Enjoy round 1 gents. I know Im looking forward to my reds giving those worthless Tah’s a hiding.
