Worcester shock Saracens
24 Feb 2012
Worcester beat Premiership champions Saracens 16-11 to boost their chances of remaining in the top flight.
Worcester are currently in the relegation zone, and so this win against one of the competition’s stronger teams would have helped their cause.
Saracens started the game with Springboks John Smit, Schalk Brits and Neil de Kock, as well as former Lions loose forward Ernst Joubert, but none of these men could prevent Worcester from taking the spoils.
In other Premiership action on Friday, Sale scored six tries in their 46-34 thumping of Wasps.
Former Cheetahs centre Ronnie Cooke scored a try for Brive in their 22-9 win against Lyon. The other Top 14 match saw Agen beating Castres 23-12.
In the Pro 12, BJ Botha’s Munster edged Cardiff 16-13 while Ruan Pienaar kicked a penalty and a conversion in Ulster’s 15-14 win over the Ospreys. Connacht were too strong for Edinburgh at home, winning 26-14.

This was a great game to watch. Brits was phenomenal – in fact the commentators pretty much ****** every time he touches the ball – until he attempted a kick that got charged down and ended up, a few phases later, in a Worcester try. And this was ultimately the winning score. But Joubert, Smit and De kock were fantastic too.
