Wales edge England

Wales edge England

Wales rebounded from being down to to score a late winning try for a 19-12 victory over England at Twickenham.

There was drama as England were denied a last-minute try and the chance to draw level as David Strettle was adjudged not to have grounded the ball in his dive for the try line. Wales have Leigh Halfpenny’s brilliant last-ditch tackle for the victory which secures them the Triple Crown and their first win in London since 1988.

Scott Williams touched down for the winning score five minutes earlier, completing a comeback from 12-6 down. Warren Gatland’s men are on course for a Grand Slam, with Scotland and Ireland now standing in their path.

England’s Owen Farrell and Halfpenny opened the scoring with penalties, and two further three to Wales’ one saw England with a 9-6 lead at the break.

Wales flyhalf Rhys Priestland was sin binned shortly after the restart but even with man advantage they failed to capitalise. Indeed, Wales made all the play, levelled the scores, and with eight minutes remaining scored the decisive and only try. Williams ripped the ball from Courtney Lawes’ grasp and chipped ahead to gather and score under the posts.

Steve Walsh was probably drunk when he reffed this game. The only good thing was that he was terrible to both teams. Seriously, how has this guy been allowed to ref high level matches for so long? He is a disgrace.
