Andries Strauss has been suspended for two weeks after a dangerous tip tackle on Wikus van Heerden at Ellis Park.
Strauss, who accepted a guilty plea, contravened Law 10.4 (j) (Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground while that player’s feet are still off the ground).
The incident occurred in the 12th minute of the Super Rugby match, which the Lions won 27-25.
‘I got handed a 2 week suspension for the tackle on Wikus van Heerden,’ said Strauss on Twitter. ‘I have let down my team and supporters and need to make it up somehow!’
