All Blacks flyhalf Colin Slade won’t be risked in the Highlanders’ important match against the Crusaders this Saturday.
Slade is on the way back from a groin injury that cut short his involvement in last year’s World Cup. His return would have proved a significant boost to the Highlanders ahead of such a big match, and word from Dunedin is that he has been training with the squad. But coach Jamie Joseph has ruled that Slade is not yet fit enough for Super Rugby action.
Chris Noakes started at No 10 last week against the Chiefs and sustained an ankle injury for his efforts. If he doesn’t recover sufficiently, Lima Sopoaga will start at flyhalf this weekend.
