Kanko blow for Sharks
29 Feb 2012
Sharks No 8 Ryan Kankowski will be sidelined for a month after undergoing an operation on his thumb.
Kankowski injured his thumb in last week’s match against the the Bulls. It was hoped that the injury wasn’t too severe and that he would face the Stormers at Newlands on Saturday, but it’s now been confirmed that he will go for surgery on Wednesday and miss the next four matches.
Willem Alberts will be included on the Sharks bench for Saturday’s game. Marcell Coetzee is likely to move to No 8 with Jacques Botes staring on the flank along with Keegan Daniel.

Blessing in disguise?
Maybe he will come back with a point to prove, reinvigorated and hungry. Unlike how he has been playing for the last year.

I called it since Kanko charged into the double whammy bevvy of Italian 2nd row beauties and saw stars floating above his eyelids.. that was curtains for Kanko.. but would Sharkievarkies ever believe it.. not on your damn Nelly – so they been persevering with him since – still waiting for Godot to eventually show why Kanko ain’t a flash in the pan show pony – I wonder when the reality will eventually dawn on any of them?

Yeah he’s in the comfortzone the sharks have created for him. Dont see him pushing himself to become a better player, even with Alberts there to keep him out of the starting lineup! Dont think he has any aspirations, well you dont see it in his attitude on the field thats for sure

Kanko shouldn’t be a forward .. he don’t have the mentality for one.. he should be a hybrid back.. perhaps a charging first center like Jamie Roberts or something.. or even 2nd center when all else fails… between Spies and Kanko it takes some doing determining which one is more of a show pony.. and I think after all is said and done Spies still got more of what it takes to cement his place at No.8… just.

Have never rally been a fan of his, hope his replacement is better and keeps him out., think he would make a better center.
