Hurricanes pair punished

Jason Eaton and Tristan Moran have copped off-field yellow cards for foul play in Friday’s match against the Lions.

According to Sanzar, Eaton stamped on a Lions player and the incident was not acted on by referee Steve Walsh. On further review of the match footage the citing commissioner deemed an off-field yellow card was appropriate.

Moran has been issued with an off-field yellow card for dangerous tackling. The Hurricanes prop came into contact late and dangerously with Lions No 10 Elton Jantjies in the first half. Walsh did award a penalty to the Lions, but the citing commissioner decided to take things a step further by issuing a yellow card.

    You wonder why Walsh did not dish out the same punishment onfield when he clearly saw both incidents.

    good stuff…!! dirty turdies…

    seems obvious that these hurricanes have come up with a game plan to play dirty foul rugby…

    shame on mark hammett for his coaching strategy… shame on the hurricanes for carrying it out…

    what about the number 18 in the tahs… who kicked a rebel player on the ground… not once but twice right in front of bryce lawrence…? dycie brycie… (who we were told was ‘suspended’ from super rugby reefing until he got better – so why is he reefing…?) dycie brycie says to the guy he must keep cool or something…??

    and the cyclops aussie commentators all just laugh about him expressing his frustration…?

    again… can we imagine what would have happened if that was a saffa player…

    @ufo(ufo)-4:

    ‘Tahs 18 was just on the field, 2min or so, didn’t really kick out the first time, more tried to violently get his foot out of the tackler’s grip, then took a half-hearted swing at the tackler’s back (I don’t think it connected). The Lawrence who shouldn’t have been at the WC decided to say “You’re just on, cool it or you’ll be just off too” or something similar.

    Hands up who believes the white card was introduced 100% for Bryce…

    Tartan @ 6

    yeah tartan…

    to me looked liked he kicked out twice after he got his foot free… and like he connected both times…

    point is… if it was burger or bakkies… would dycie brycie have just have said… “you’ve just come one so cool it..”?

    don’t think so…

    but yeah… think you’ll get 100% agreeing with you…

    :lol:

    Burger or Bakkies? Reaching for the pocket before the first swing connects…

    That was actually a game that should have had a card. A lot of niggly underhand kak going on the whole match. Bryce is useless.

    Back to the Yellows.

    I love these “Off Field Yellow Cards” .

    I do however think,
    the On Field Referee, should have an input. (perhaps this happens ………………….I don’t know).

    @wallabie.(wallabie.)-9:

    any history would be considered in the hearing… but didn’t know the refs know all the players discipline histories…?

    so you saying that the ref knew this number 18 had no prior history and it’s in the laws and protocols to let a player get away with a foul act if he has no history…?

    so the next time this guy kicks someone… he still has no history because nothing was done about it this time…?

    oh-kay… i see where you’re coming from…!!

    :lol:

    I saw it and it wasn’t bad enough for a yellow
    Certainly was not as bad as Jantjies’ headbutt on Goosen last week,
    could be the Hurricanes retaliated for a Jantjies hit on their No9 earlier?
