Alberts returns for derby crunch

Willem Alberts has been pushed into the starting line-up for the Sharks’ crucial match against the Lions on Saturday.

Coach John Plumtree has brought Alberts, who until recently was recovering from a shoulder injury, straight back into the starting back row. As a result, Marcell Coetzee moves to No 6 and Jacques Botes is dropped to the bench.

The other bit of good news for the Sharks is that Tim Whitehead and Odwa Ndungane are also back from their respective injuries and will start against the Lions.

Sharks – 15 Riaan Viljoen, 14 Odwa Ndungane, 13 JP Pietersen, 12 Tim Whitehead, 11 Lwazi Mvovo, 10 Pat Lambie, 9 Frederic Michalak, 8 Keegan Daniel (c), 7 Willem Alberts, 6 Marcell Coetzee, 5 Ross Skeate, 4 Steven Sykes, 3 Wiehahn Herbst, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Dale Chadwick.
Subs: 16 Craig Burden, 17 Jannie du Plessis, 18 Anton Bresler, 19 Jacques Botes, 20 Charl McLeod, 21 Meyer Bosman, 22 Paul Jordaan.
