Toulouse beat Castres 34-27 to retain their lead at the summit of the French Top 14.

Toulouse trailed for most of the match but then scored 17 points in the final 10 minutes to claim the win that keeps them ahead of the chasing Clermont, who won 29-20 against Agen. Brent Russell scored in Clermont’s win, which leaves them four points adrift of Toulouse.

Elsewhere, Biarritz continued their climb away from the relegation zone with a 26-11 victory over Brive, Montpellier stayed in the play-off race with a 37-26 win over Bayonne, and Stade Francais eased past Lyon 40-19.
