Deysel to boost Sharks

Deysel to boost Sharks

Sharks coach John Plumtree is optimistic that he will have loose forward Jean Deysel available for selection for the Australasian leg of their campaign.

Deysel has suffered a string of injuries in his time at the Sharks, the latest being a knee problem that has kept him sidelined since last year. However, he will be included in their training this week, and while he is unlikely to be considered for selection for the Reds, Plumtree says he could well be on Sunday’s flight to Sydney.

‘We hope Deysel will be available to go with us on tour and we are planning to bring him back into team work this week,’ Plumtree told Supersport.com. ‘The good news is he’s looking really good and his knee is a lot better than it was in the Currie Cup final. He’s very close to being ready to play again and we hope he might be able to get in some rugby this week with the Vodacom Cup side and then he can hop on the plane with us.’

The Sharks duo of Ryan Kankowski and Alistair Hargreaves are nursing injuries and won’t tour, but Plumtree added that both will be ready to resume duty when the team returns.

The Sharks will be hard pressed to win any games overseas. I can’t see this ending very well going on their current form.

Ball skills will let them down if this area is not improved 100%. The locks are a worry.

i take your point but I think you are being overly pessimistic

Granted the Sharks did not look good in their 1st 3 games.
But neither did any of their opposition.
The Bulls and the Stormers squeaked victories (Sharks were away) and the Lions did not play well

Not saying for a second that the Sharks deserved to beat the Sttormers & the Bulls.
Speaking for the Stormers game if the judges had awarded 0 points each it would not have been out of order.
Of cpourse rugby doesnt work that way.

Locks are a concern but I am seeing improvement in the backs.
In the scrum Bissie is improving again and Jannie will find form (and hopefull Beast will return

They should beat a very poor Brumbies team and possibly the Canes as well.

Will be a close game against both the Aussie sides but the Canes at home will be hard
