Woodcock’s back

Blues prop Tony Woodcock will play his first match since sustaining an injury at the 2011 World Cup.

Woodcock makes his return via the Blues Development side who play the Fiji Warriors at Pakuranga on Tuesday. It is welcome news given the Blues’ ever-growing injury list, the most notable name on there being loose forward Jerome Kaino.

Woodcock is expected to be drafted back into the first team upon their return from their tour of South Africa, which concludes with a match against the Stormers on Friday.

‘You can tell by his attitude that he can’t wait to get out there and get some game time. It’s also a great opportunity for the younger guys to play with someone of his experience,’ Blues Development coach Jeff Wilson said.

Meanwhile, Development squad member Francis Saili has been called into the Blues squad in Cape Town as cover for the suspended Rene Ranger.
