Mitchell suffers another injury blow
15 Mar 2012
Wallabies and Waratahs wing Drew Mitchell will be sidelined for four months because of an ongoing ankle injury.
Mitchell confirmed the news on Twitter on Thursday, saying: ‘So I now have some spare time on my hands, saw a specialist today who confirmed I’ll be watching for another 4 months at least.’
The 27-year-old was only expected to be out for a month, but after seeing a specialist in Melbourne this week, it’s been confirmed that he will be sidelined until July. This means he can feature in the play-offs if the Waratahs qualify, but he will miss the majority of their Super Rugby campaign and the Wallabies’ June Test series against Wales.
Mitchell has had a poor run with injures since last year. He broke his ankle during Super Rugby in 2011 before suffering a hamstring injury during the World Cup last October.
