Ioane cited

Reds wing Digby Ioane faces possible suspension after being cited for a dangerous tackle in their match against the Sharks.

The tip-tackle on Sharks flank Marcell Coetzee earned Ioane a yellow card but after a review of the incident the citing commissioner has deemed it had the potential to be a red card offence.

Ioane will hear his fate early next week.

Un-dragon like behaviour……lucky that Kaplan didn’t spot him, as that would’ve been a red card fo sho….

Why though did the linesman not make that call then?

Linesman should also get suspended for a few games until he grows a set and does his flippin job!!! If this happened in Australia or New Zealand our player would have gotten red and white from the linesman. Why not here?

Well, look at the difference between the Hougaard tackle and the Digby tackle.
But I still think the approach is bad for rugby.

But hey! good for the Bulls, this will help us out a bit (know you…to get the bouspoint try, not the win- that’s iin the bag of course).

This sucks. Why should tackles like this be cited?

2 or 3 years ago crowds would have wowed with amazment or applauded a tackle like that.

He didn’t drive him into the ground on his head and neck he put him on his back.

Coetzee milked the whole situation. There is a difference between putting a player on his head oror neck and a difference between him landing on his back just like he would if it was a crunch tackle.

It’s a very annoying aspect of the game now because as soon as a player is off the floor any tackle is going to be carded whether they good or not.

If Digby was white, nothing would’ve happened!

Interesting statement : “He didn’t drive him into the ground on his head and neck he put him on his back.”
You managed to describe exactly what happened, luckily Coetzee released the ball in time so he could support his body to avoid a direct head down hit with the ground

Ranger and Braid were cited for supposedly hits on Basson and Kolisi, not sure if those players fall into your defintion? ;)
The one who who never cited was JP for a spear tackle of Sadie off the ball into the ground head first
The lineman who watched it was that Newlands darling Pro Legota who never reported the tackle to Kaplan!
    A brotherly love? ;)

What ever suspension is handed out he has too be lucky if he gets one week .
The Tackle on Coetzee was dangerous the intent was there by lifting him up and
driving him down it should have been a red card.
