Tighthead prop Jannie du Plessis is match fit and will start for the Sharks against the Waratahs this weekend.
The Sharks had a tighthead prop injury crisis earlier in the week as Du Plessis and Wiehahn Herbst, the only No 3 options in their touring squad, were doubtful for Saturday’s game. However, Du Plessis passed a late medical test and has been given the green light to start in Sydney. Twenty-year-old Nick Schonert was flown Down Under in midweek and will provide cover on the bench.
Otherwise, there is only one change to the Sharks’ run-on team – Jandre Marais replaces Steven Sykes in the second row, with the latter dropping to the reserves.
