Duane Vermeulen is out of the June Tests. Stormers strong man Duane Vermeulen returned home from the Stormers Super Rugby tour because of injury and conservatively won't play again until July. It could be that he is out for the remainder of the Super Rugby season as well because of knee ligament damage. Stormers loose-forward Rynhardt Elstadt is also out for at least six weeks as the Cape-based franchise's season went from bad to worse in Sydney. Vermeulen, Meyer's first choice No 8, will be nursed back to action for the Rugby Championship in August. His injury means a likely Bok start ... Read Article19 May 2013
GREGOR PAUL, in the Herald on Sunday, writes world rugby will get its integrated season after the 2015 World Cup and Super Rugby won't break to accommodate an international window. Super Rugby will shift to a March start and won't break for test matches, the June window will be shifted to July and all players will have a 14 to 16-week off-season. Other innovative plans are being discussed, such as building a world series of tests in years that fall between the World Cup and British Lions tours. The revolution that All Black coach Steve Hansen called for last week is coming. The players ... Read Article25 Apr 2013
Jan Serfontein, the player of last year's under 20 World Championship, will head the baby Boks defence in France. Serfontein and Kings wing Sergeal Petersen are two Super Rugby regulars to make Dawie Theron's squad and brilliant flyhalf Handre Pollard is another to play in a second successive tournament. Theron's squad lost a three-match series 2-1 to Argentina in Argentina. Serfontein, Petersen and Western Province's Cheslin Kolbe did not play in those matches. Bulls loose forward Ruan Steenkamp is captain. Serfontein and Pollard are the only two squad members from last year's ... Read Article14 May 2013
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has selected several uncapped Blues players in his training group. Hansen confirmed 38 names and this included many from the potent Blues backline. The Highlanders, despite only winning one match in this year's Super Rugby competition, have six players in the group. An obvious area of weakness is at hooker where Hansen has selected veterans Andrew Hore and Keven Mealamu and Canes Dane Coles. Options are limited and it certainly is a concern for New Zealanders. No overseas-based players were considered, as it is NZRFU policy. Among the uncapped players ... Read Article15 May 2013
French coach Philipe Saint-Andre has included three South African-born players for the three-Test series against the All Blacks in New Zealand. Racing Metro flank Bernard le Roux and Clermont prop Daniel Kotze join Antonie Claassen in a squad that includes eight new caps. Fijian-born Clermont winger Noa Nakaitaci is among the newcomers. Saint-Andre has rested flyhalf Francois Trinh-Duc, but included Toulon's Frederic Michalak. France play world champions New Zealand on June 8, 15 and 22 in Auckland, Hamilton and New Plymouth respectively. French super club Toulon's foreign dominance ... Read Article5 Mar 2013
MARK KEOHANE writes the Varsity Cup in its first year rocked. Since then it's just another professional tournament. The Varsity Cup may have the innovation of doing a few things differently, but what was supposed to be a celebration of student rugby somehow just seems like another tournament, in which the traditional power houses remain the traditional strengths in the tournament. Much has been made of the Port Elizabeth-based Nelson Mandela University display this season and equally there has been bewilderment at how poor Shimlas have been. But it seems the old one two of Stellenbosch University ... Read Article12 May 2013
Marcus Watson scored in extra time to beat the Blitzbokke in the London World Series Sevens Cup quarter-finals. The teams were level 14-all at full time. Watson's try came four minutes into extra time. England won 19-14. England had the chance to win the match with the last play of the game in normal time. They were awarded a penalty and opted to take a drop kick for goal. It missed. Watson then rounded off a move after England had retained possession for two minutes. South Africa suffered further embarrassment when they lost for a second time in the tournament to the USA and were eliminated ... Read Article8 Jan 2013
Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will play in the North Section of the competition, along with the Blue Bulls, Golden Lions, Griffons, Leopards, Pumas, Valke ... Read Article28 Mar 2012

“PERCY MONTGOMERY, KeoTV’s latest addition, says Bryan Habana is now the complete player.”….?….

Percy M played 102 tests and have therefore much more “street credibility” and an insight to the game than any blogger or journalist on keo can even dream to have. Some sour losers will obviously critisize the decision to add him to the keo-tv lineup instead of just listening what he has to say.
28 Mar 2012, 10:03 am
My Oom Chris should be on Schmeo TV tomorrow saying gerhard van der heever is the complete wing. Watch how good it is.
28 Mar 2012, 10:04 am
I think Habana is by far the best wing in SA.
28 Mar 2012, 10:05 am
Percy has forgotten more about Rugby than we’ll ever know.
That being said, they are good mates.
Victor really has some great things to say about Percy in his book, so that probably makes him OK in Tac’s eyes.
28 Mar 2012, 10:05 am
Percy on Keo TV, have I died and gone to heaven?
28 Mar 2012, 10:07 am
@BULLET(BULLET)-7: thats what Tacitus was saying two years ago.
28 Mar 2012, 10:13 am
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-9:
Pity you missed the Sting gig.
The set covered his whole career- and as expected he put a new slant on old material instead of taking the easy option of doing a rehash of the originals as most artists do.
It was awesome- just about the best backing band ever as well.
28 Mar 2012, 10:16 am
@Robzim(Robzim)-12: Ja i would have loved to go,
I really like his solo stuff, Summoners tales is a fantastic album. One of my favourites.
Legend Muso.
I’ll have to console myself with Don, Glen, Joe and the boys next week.
28 Mar 2012, 10:21 am
@Robzim(Robzim)-12:
Saw Sting at the Good Hope Centre in the early 90′s.
His stage presence is unique.
Sang “Fragile” after the encore. Blew me away.
28 Mar 2012, 10:22 am
@Jeraldjay(Jeraldjay)-14: Yes I was there too. Great gig.
28 Mar 2012, 10:29 am
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-13:
@Jeraldjay(Jeraldjay)-14:
He finished with “Fragile” last night as well.
Accompanying himself on the accoustic.
The crowd did not want to let him go- the set lasted for 2 hours ten minutes.
Eagles at the stadium should be great too- Personally i prefer the smaller venues.
28 Mar 2012, 10:33 am
Montgomery couldnt tackle a fish
28 Mar 2012, 10:33 am
Habana still has a lot to offer… But the youngsters are outplaying him…
28 Mar 2012, 10:42 am

28 Mar 2012, 11:00 am

28 Mar 2012, 11:19 am
@RedMan(RedMan)-21:
Indeed
Enough to make you befuck early in the morning.
Maybe Percy got the job they were advertising for earlier this year
28 Mar 2012, 11:28 am
@ufo(ufo)-19: Agreed. I predicted before the season started that he was going to score 8 tries this season. 2 down 6 to go.
28 Mar 2012, 11:29 am
@Dawn(Dawn)-23: percy still owes Keo some of the advance they gave him for his book, which was a flop.
butch will also be roped in to payback his advance too
28 Mar 2012, 11:29 am
Geez Monty….how’s the repetition?
Ability to score tries,defend and assist the fullback….surely that’s the definition of a wings job?
Next he’ll be on saying the reason Bismark is so good is cos he throws the ball in at the lineout!
28 Mar 2012, 11:30 am
Not bad Percy for your first try on keo tv. You can improve though. Get some tips from Ryan.
28 Mar 2012, 11:32 am
PrickBoks going South – Ur an ijit. Monty has got a well deserved RWC medal which is more than i can say for the show pony Carter, who only has one by default!!
28 Mar 2012, 11:33 am
@benno_on_tow(benno_on_tow)-26: lol
28 Mar 2012, 11:39 am

28 Mar 2012, 11:42 am
This stop start, zoom in, zoom out, get the camera up Monty’s nose stuff is scary stuff.
It’s enough to give Epileptics a turn.
28 Mar 2012, 11:42 am
@Sasuke(Sasuke)-24:
only eight…??
yeah… let’s face it.. he could’ve gone to europe or japan for big bucks… but he stayed here for a smaller package… and has obviously trimmed down and put it in a lot effort in the off season… his quickest time in the squad for 40m being evidence of that…
so no one can fault his commitment or effort… and IF anything in life is ever deserved… maybe a full return to form is on the cards for bryan…
28 Mar 2012, 11:45 am
@race of tan(race of tan)-28:
What for beating the worst English side in the history of Rugby. Twice.
28 Mar 2012, 11:47 am
@ufo(ufo)-33: based on the previous season it will be good if he can reach 8 out of 16 games. Yes he looks a bit slimmer…..His new fader haircut also makes him look slimmer….i see he is going back to his coloured roots with that haircut.
28 Mar 2012, 11:49 am
@cane – that worst england side in history beat the team who beat you on route to the finals.
28 Mar 2012, 11:53 am
@Sasuke(Sasuke)-35:
only teasing bud… 8 would be very cool…
28 Mar 2012, 11:54 am
@BULLET(BULLET)-36:
True Bu, true.
The Heavy-weights all knocked themselves silly………………………………….While the Boks slipped in through the back door and stole Bill.
Then went home and had a parade.

Jail time for Muamba tweeter
2012-03-27 13:08Email | Print
London – A British university student was on Tuesday jailed for 56 days for inciting racial hatred, after posting offensive comments on Twitter about the collapse of Bolton Wanderers footballer Fabrice Muamba.
Magistrates in Swansea, south Wales, sent 21-year-old biology undergraduate Liam Stacey to prison after he admitted the charge at a previous hearing last week. He broke down in tears as he was taken away in handcuffs.
Sentencing the student, district judge John Charles said there was “no alternative” to an immediate prison sentence, as when Muamba collapsed “it was not the football world who was praying for him… everybody was praying for his life”.
Stacey’s remarks on Twitter as the footballer battled for his life were “vile and abhorrent”, the judge added.
The student was reported to police and arrested after posting a number of tweets on the micro-blogging site mocking the player, who collapsed with a cardiac arrest during Bolton’s FA Cup quarter-final tie with Tottenham Hotspur on March 17.
Stacey was taken to task by other users after he used offensive language to say that the player had died, prompting him to respond with a tirade of personal abuse.
Swansea University said last week that they had suspended Stacey pending a formal disciplinary hearing.
Muamba, whom doctors said was effectively dead for 78 minutes as they administered artificial resuscitation, has since made a “miraculous” recovery but is still in a serious but stable condition in intensive care at a London hospital.
The 23-year-old midfielder was on Monday said to be making “encouraging” progress and had even managed to sit out of bed and watch television, doctors at the London Chest Hospital said in a statement.
His collapse led to the FA Cup tie being abandoned. The match is due to be replayed at Spurs’ White Hart Lane ground on Tuesday night. A number of Bolton players were seen visiting their colleague in hospital ahead of the game.
In a separate case last Wednesday, magistrates in Newcastle, northeast England, ordered another student to complete a two-year community order with 240 hours unpaid work for sending a string of abusive tweets to former footballer Stan Collymore.
Newcastle University student Joshua Cryer, 21, admitted sending the messages to the former Liverpool, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest player, who now works as a radio and television pundit.

@THE MAULER(THE MAULER)-42:
I assume it was so objectionable that the Tweet Moderators erased it.
It (the Tweet) was probably quite tame,
compared to some of the posts here on Keo.comedy

@THE MAULER(THE MAULER)-42: i don’t know, i also haven’t seen what he tweeted, must’ve been hectic.

Don’t agree with this complete player propaganda but Habana had a solid game on the weekend, but his pace is gone.
28 Mar 2012, 12:36 pm
@cane(cane)-45: Well from the horses mouth! The only way NZ could win the RWC – make it in NZ, get NZ refs in charge, and re-appoint a blatantly incompetent, but Kiwi, ref for the crucial QF.
As for generosity – I have watched the clip where McCaw talks about the reception the ABs got in 2007 – it was VERY similar Cane. NZ knew they had been cheated out of the competition.
ABs also ended 8th and were treated like heroes upon return home.
28 Mar 2012, 12:50 pm
@cane(cane)-43: When in doubt, tweet it with wespect.
