Willie le Roux and Lappies Labuschagne have finally been rewarded with spots in the Springbok training group. They are two of eight that are first timers in Springbok training groups this year. The others are Gio Aplon, Trevor Nyakane, JJ Engelbrecht, Lionel Mapoe, Wiehahn Herbst and Demetri Catrakilis. The group of players will assemble in Durban for the second training camp of the year, before the final squad for the Incoming Tours is selected. Players not considered due to injury include: JP Pietersen, Jaco Taute, Frans Steyn, Johan Goosen, Duane Vermeulen, Pat Cilliers and Frans Malherbe. ... Read Article24 May 2013

Jan Serfontein, the player of last year's under 20 World Championship, will head the baby Boks defence in France. Serfontein and Kings wing Sergeal Petersen are two Super Rugby regulars to make Dawie Theron's squad and brilliant flyhalf Handre Pollard is another to play in a second successive tournament. Theron's squad lost a three-match series 2-1 to Argentina in Argentina. Serfontein, Petersen and Western Province's Cheslin Kolbe did not play in those matches. Bulls loose forward Ruan Steenkamp is captain. Serfontein and Pollard are the only two squad members from last year's ... Read Article14 May 2013
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has selected several uncapped Blues players in his training group. Hansen confirmed 38 names and this included many from the potent Blues backline. The Highlanders, despite only winning one match in this year's Super Rugby competition, have six players in the group. An obvious area of weakness is at hooker where Hansen has selected veterans Andrew Hore and Keven Mealamu and Canes Dane Coles. Options are limited and it certainly is a concern for New Zealanders. No overseas-based players were considered, as it is NZRFU policy. Among the uncapped players ... Read Article15 May 2013
French coach Philipe Saint-Andre has included three South African-born players for the three-Test series against the All Blacks in New Zealand. Racing Metro flank Bernard le Roux and Clermont prop Daniel Kotze join Antonie Claassen in a squad that includes eight new caps. Fijian-born Clermont winger Noa Nakaitaci is among the newcomers. Saint-Andre has rested flyhalf Francois Trinh-Duc, but included Toulon's Frederic Michalak. France play world champions New Zealand on June 8, 15 and 22 in Auckland, Hamilton and New Plymouth respectively. French super club Toulon's foreign dominance ... Read Article5 Mar 2013
MARK KEOHANE writes the Varsity Cup in its first year rocked. Since then it's just another professional tournament. The Varsity Cup may have the innovation of doing a few things differently, but what was supposed to be a celebration of student rugby somehow just seems like another tournament, in which the traditional power houses remain the traditional strengths in the tournament. Much has been made of the Port Elizabeth-based Nelson Mandela University display this season and equally there has been bewilderment at how poor Shimlas have been. But it seems the old one two of Stellenbosch University ... Read Article12 May 2013
Marcus Watson scored in extra time to beat the Blitzbokke in the London World Series Sevens Cup quarter-finals. The teams were level 14-all at full time. Watson's try came four minutes into extra time. England won 19-14. England had the chance to win the match with the last play of the game in normal time. They were awarded a penalty and opted to take a drop kick for goal. It missed. Watson then rounded off a move after England had retained possession for two minutes. South Africa suffered further embarrassment when they lost for a second time in the tournament to the USA and were eliminated ... Read Article8 Jan 2013
Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will play in the North Section of the competition, along with the Blue Bulls, Golden Lions, Griffons, Leopards, Pumas, Valke ... Read Article30 Mar 2012

Keo, the jump-zoom-cuts are annoying. And words like running and astounding have a g on the end. You’re right about the bulls though.
29 Mar 2012, 17:15 pm
Yes sir … isn’t the point to annoy (lol) … I will refer our production man David to your comments and I will call a debrief on Monday where copious amounts will be drunk and a formula will be settled on that will hopefully entertain and not annoy and irritate. Cheers for feedback
29 Mar 2012, 17:45 pm
lol, since when u been a bulls supporter keo?
29 Mar 2012, 17:49 pm
keo i have to agree with you i think the bulls will win at newlands,the bulls pack without matfield,steenkamp botha,russouw gary botha have done extremely well and are starting to come good,but this team is a work in progress and there is room for a lot of improvement ans i sure hope the bulls stuff the 2nd raters at newlands pink jerseys and all.
29 Mar 2012, 18:08 pm
Keo
Where are my dollars you pikey.
29 Mar 2012, 18:12 pm
You disappoint me, Ryan. Seems you’ve been a bloody wolf in sheep’s clothing all this time.Tar and feather time, I reckon.
Oh and Keo, I must admit, you’re looking kind of in shape. Much better than on the very first Keo TV clip I saw, when you looked vaguely related to Mat Dunning. This training regime you’re bragging about so much on Twitter seems to be paying off.
29 Mar 2012, 19:25 pm
Jeez Monty on keo tv! Carol going to be in bliss land….hahahaha.
29 Mar 2012, 19:29 pm
Going to be a close game, doubt whoever wins will win by a big margin.
Stormers by 5.
29 Mar 2012, 19:30 pm
@Tacitus(Deucalion)-6:
Nice compliment you gave Mark re his physique.
Seems like this whole pink thing is getting to you as well, hehe.

@blueboy(blueboy)-4:
Gary Botha passed his sell by date a while ago.
29 Mar 2012, 19:51 pm
It is raining cats and dogs in Cape Town currently. If it continues to rain Bulls free running backs will be neutralised and superior Stormers pack will keep it close and grind out the game winning the game on penalties.
29 Mar 2012, 19:57 pm
Pienk Poeie to take the win you say, well I say it will be very close, too close to call.
29 Mar 2012, 20:00 pm
keo is hoping.. rather praying that his beloved bully boys can pull it off Saturday, what he gonna do when they don’t.. who gonna be crying and wailing when the pink tutu wearing prima donnas get marched off Newlands and herded up like pink frilly laced koeie into the milk shed ready for their titillating teats to get a good old fashioned milking…?
Better beware its a coming bully boys ain’t going home victorious Saturday.. with or without Craig Joubert trying his damnedest to cook the outcome..
29 Mar 2012, 20:03 pm
@daydreamer(daydreamer)-12: Pienk Koeie I meant

According to www. windguru dot com (the best weather site) the rain will stop tomorrow. Saturday evening will be clear skies, southerly wind of 15 knots and air temperature of 20 degrees Celsius- perfect for a running game.
29 Mar 2012, 20:13 pm
can’t wait to see Stormers drill these overrated fancy boys in hulle moere in.. all the way back to the overrated drawing board in frilly lace pink jacaranda Tswane Town .. gonna be a glorious sight to behold…
Vermeulen, Elstadt, Kolisi, and Etsebeth to have a field day with the frilly laced pink pom pom toting Tswanaians
29 Mar 2012, 20:24 pm
I am a Stormers supporter and picked the Bulls to win by 4 on Superbru on Wednesday – but the vibe coming from the Stormers Camp looks good, the boys seem focussed and I wish I could change my pick to Stormer by 4.
The worst is that Keo picked the Bulls to win, in the history of picking the results of Rugby games – I don’t think I’ve EVER seen a worse tipster than KEO. (well JC & Ryan are in the same boat).
GO STORMERS !!!!
29 Mar 2012, 20:24 pm
Ja and if they lose?
Fuckadilly will be stuffing his fat smug face with humble tofu pie.
Nom nom nom.
29 Mar 2012, 20:31 pm
@brains_trust(brains_trust)-17:
keo will be at Newlands looking swell in his pink jumper sitting next to Monty .
He’s been a Bulls supporter all his life apparently – well so he says.
29 Mar 2012, 20:34 pm
My big concern: Vermeulen, Elstadt, Etsebeth and Liebenberg might cause havoc for 60 minutes. Will they have the speed and stamina to chase the likes of Hougaard and Basson for the whole 80 minutes? And what then? Who is gonna finish them off? If things go wrong, will the Stormers have a plan B? They never had one before.
29 Mar 2012, 20:35 pm
Bulls are going DOWN.. better believe it.. fete a compli
turncoat keohane and gunthergwat can commiserate in higgledy piggledy unison together – Mondays headline . . fat overrated bully boys ‘owned’ in Slaap Stad
Gerhard Van den Heever to put the final nail in the pink clad coffin.
29 Mar 2012, 20:49 pm
@mettie(mettie)-20:
In the final 20 mins the Stormers will bring on Koster and Deon Fourie to speed the game up a bit.
And there’s also shadow who’s no slouch – his sprint times are well documented on this esteemed forum.
29 Mar 2012, 21:16 pm
It seems this week the blog is dominated by arrogant WP supporters, living in Cape Town basically my whole life and adopting the Stormers as my second team I really don’t see the reason to be so arrogant..The Stormers by far have the best defense in the tournament, that won them the close games when the bounce of the ball was on the Stormers side..Bulls however is a well coached side, fit and up for a physical challenge, the back line of the bulls also are gelling better than that of the stormers on attack..I tip them for a win by more than seven..
29 Mar 2012, 21:42 pm
Stormers going down
29 Mar 2012, 21:46 pm
@weakoma(weakoma)-23:
The Bulls are not a running team- their back line only “impressed ” against a demoralised reds team who were without most of their main players even playing a club player at no 10. The main weapon of the Bulls is the high kick and chase- no 9 or 10 mostly kick high and then they chase and contest – in Basson they have arguably the best “contester in the air’ in SA -.So, the Stormers have nothing to worry about as far as attacking backline play is concerned, they only have to take care of the bombardment of high kicks.
Can they do it?
For sure they can- all they must do is to stop the supply of ball and place the bulls no 9 and 10 under pressure and there will be less well aimed high kicks. That is why they have selected the monster pack.
So, i expect the Stormers to bully the bulls forwards into submission and win by about 7-10.
29 Mar 2012, 21:48 pm
Who is David Swart.
The weirdo who shoots these movies?
29 Mar 2012, 21:53 pm
@IAAS(I am a stormer)-22: Yes the shoe is on the other foot in this instance.
Literally and figuratively.
29 Mar 2012, 21:55 pm
Bulls will win it in honour of Eugene Terreblanche and all the other victims of farm murders …
29 Mar 2012, 22:06 pm
It’s a fait accompli you uneducated gibbon.
29 Mar 2012, 22:12 pm
@Robzim(Robzim)-15: ok cool thanks.
29 Mar 2012, 22:13 pm
@IAAS(I am a stormer)-22: That will be the Stormers trump card
29 Mar 2012, 22:14 pm
@Dawn(Dawn)-26: Must be. First time i see that. He is the one responsible for the constant zooming in and out.
29 Mar 2012, 22:17 pm
¿where is the real Grant10?
29 Mar 2012, 22:22 pm
Stormers do not have the killer instinct, never had it. Even if the bulls lose tomorrow they will still bounce back and be there at the business end of the tournament. Bulls are looking stronger and fitter than any other team, the only thing that could affect them will be their own mindsets, their egos as such
29 Mar 2012, 22:25 pm
@grant10(grant100)-28:
Thats deep cuzzie!
29 Mar 2012, 22:37 pm
@grant10(grant100)-28: and johan kotze & bees roux?
29 Mar 2012, 22:49 pm
@Trans, i think i shocked wanderer with my astute analysis of his blogging style8-). Thats what 8 years on this site teaches you! Grant100 is next, i see some similiarities to a trekker as well

@Transformation(Transformation)-36: 2 Swallows maketh not a Summer, but as they say the Titanic is sinking and you are playing the violin
29 Mar 2012, 22:55 pm
@loyal domdooslion is having nightmares bout the saders tonight, in his sprite legacy caravan.
29 Mar 2012, 23:12 pm
@JL1(JL1)-38: s the comedian steve harvey said, “i’m damn sure the band that was playing on the titanic was a white band! ‘the band played until the ship went down’ what? oh hell no, if that were the temptations or kool & the gang they would’ve packed their instruments as soon as the 1st announcement was made”
29 Mar 2012, 23:17 pm
@JL1(JL1)-38: Interesting how you reprimand Transie but no comment for Grant100.
Interesting but completely unsurprising.
@Transformation(Transformation)-40: I wouldn’t rise to it Transie, because JL1 has a point that bringing up Bees and the other scumbag doesn’t really say anything.
Eugene can rot in hell regardless, no sympathy what-so-ever.
29 Mar 2012, 23:20 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-40:
Mind you, The Temptations and Kool and the Gang were so kak they would not have been able to get a gig on board of the Titanic. Rather use the Jackson 5 (when Michael was still with them) as an example to illustrate your point.
29 Mar 2012, 23:43 pm
@Slappes(Slappes)-37: you bamboozled him…
29 Mar 2012, 23:48 pm
@Robzim(Robzim)-42: it was all Motown robbie, barry gordy would’ve wangled a way for one of them to open for the Jackson 5
29 Mar 2012, 23:52 pm
@Bagel(Bagel)-41: no sweat Bagsy, sometimes some okes here think they have monopoly on irreverence.
29 Mar 2012, 23:52 pm
@Bagel(Bagel)-41: Which part of this should be reprimanded?”Bulls will win it in honour of Eugene Terreblanche and all the other victims of farm murders …”
You go and count the farm murders…
29 Mar 2012, 23:59 pm
wtf wrong with Kool and the Gang.. way out Motown R&B funky band and Temptations were pure class. put ‘lil micky mouse Micheal in the shade..
30 Mar 2012, 00:00 am
@JL1(JL1)-46:
So, the Bulls are playing in honour of Eugene Terreblanche on Saturday then?
What about all this kak about “two wrongs don’t make a right” from YOU, amongst others, whenever fools like Julius looked for ways to punish the whites for the wrongs of the past?
30 Mar 2012, 00:04 am
Bulls going down at Newlands… Stormers gonna fck them up like they never been fck’d up before…hope they ready for the humiliation…
and this Stormers side CAN go all the way as long as AC don’t capitulate and make Burger chief cook and bottle washer mid field f’ng general kapitano invincible again…
30 Mar 2012, 00:10 am
@JL1(JL1)-46:
“You go and count the farm murders…”
You’re also concern about the child murders in SA, I suppose. You have that numbers also?
