Baby Boks set for Argentinean challenge

Dawie Theron has picked a 42-man squad for the Baby Boks’ training camp and three-match series against Argentina U20s from 10-23 April in Cape Town.

This will be head coach Theron’s final preparation phase ahead of the Junior World Championship, that will be co-hosted in Bellville and Stellenbosch from 4-22 June.

Theron has picked many of the players who was part of the Baby Boks training squad in February. He has also included several U19 players, who will all take part in a midweek a match against Argentina U20s.

The junior Argentinean squad will arrive in South Africa on Monday. Two matches are scheduled for the Markotter Stadium on 14 and 17 April, while the last fixture will be played at the Danie Craven Stadium on 21 April. Theron is confident that the upcoming training week will successful for this year’s and future Baby Bok squads.

‘Our planning is on track and this camp will give our players much needed game time against good opposition. We decided to add the midweek fixture so we could mostly bring the U19 players into the mix. It will be very good experience for them and another chance for us to test depth of our wider squad,’ he said.
