Paarl Boys’ finished their unbeaten run at the St John’s Easter Festival with a tight 19-18 win over Waterkloof.
Boishaai and Waterkloof headed into final day’s feature match as the two in-form schools at the festival, after both sides picked up wins on day one and day two. The Paarl school dominated the early parts of the match and went on to surge into a 14-5 lead. Klofies fought back strongly, but they failed in their pursuit as Boishaai held on for a one-point triumph.
In other results, Daniel Pienaar surprised many with a 18-13 win over Florida, who pushed Klofies close on Saturday. The result completed Daniel Pienaar’s three-match winning streak. Namibia’s Windhoek Gym and Nelspruit also downed Parktown Boys’ (29-18) and Marais Viljoen (21-18).
England’s Lord Wandsworth recorded their first victory of the festival with a convincing 41-12 win over Klein Nederburg. Hosts St John’s were beaten 33-10 by the tournament’s invitational XV.
