Sharks wait on Bismarck
10 Apr 2012
Bismarck du Plessis may be available to start in the Sharks’ final tour match against the Blues.
Coach John Plumtree has confirmed that the Springbok hooker ran with the team on Tuesday at training. Du Plessis picked up a thigh injury in the win over the Brumbies and only featured from the bench in last week’s encounter with the Hurricanes. It is still not known for certain whether he will start this weekend.
‘Bismarck trained today [Tuesday] and we’re certainly hoping he will be available, so we’ll see how he gets through training and make a decision later in the week,’ Plumtree said.
Flyhalf Pat Lambie could also be available for this must-win clash. However, centre Tim Whitehead (groin) and flank Marcell Coetzee (shoulder) are reportedly struggling with injuries.

How rotten were the Sharks? Even the Blues will beat them this weekend!

Just as The Sharks start to get their midfield in order the forwards go to pieces.

I think that Burden had a great game last weekend.
Against the Blues they might want to keep him in the starting lineup.

The Blues will be targeting the channel between Freddie and Charl again (not if Lambie comes back though) as the Hurricanes did to good effect and The Sharks will be having to run back to cover tackles all day long.
One wonders if the coach has picked up on this yet.

Speculation: Hargreaves to sign a 2-year deal with the London club and will leave the Sharks at the end of June.

Can’t be very fun for Bismarck to have the whole of the Sharks camp waiting on him. Must be very heavy. No wonder he is injured

@houston, we have a problem…(i_love_u_bakkiesbotha)-7: Wow you really hate the Sharks don’t you mate. Did one of the Sharks players or a Sharks fan sleep with your woman or something? Seems to be a serious vendetta. I don’t particularly like the Stormers very much but I give them credit where its due but I never delighted in their demise unlike you.
What a lot of brainless cretins on here who think they’re rugby geniuses don’t seem to realise is that only one SA team doing well in the S15 harms SA in the long-run. Nobody is asking the right questions. Are foreign coaches like Plumtree and Mitchell actually helping rugby in SA or are they in actual fact doing it more harm? Only Mitchell seems to have got the Lions playing a more expansive approach but their defensive is hondkak. While the Sharks have been steadily going down hill since that big-eared Kiwi domkop took over. We went from 2007 runners up (by a whisker) to perennial underdogs. Its just not good enough. Plum must resign at the end of this season and make way for Nick Mallett. Plum has destroyed the Sharks and turned them into a bunch of schoolboys. The blame should purely lay at his feet. This whole personal vendetta against individual players must stop. The buck starts and stops with the coaching staff.

Its embarrassing to think the Sharks are pretty much the worst team in the comp. Plumtree is the most useless coach around. Canes were ripe for the picking after a demoralising loss to the Cheetahs. Can we not just leave Plum in NZ. Does he really have to come back to SA? I’ll be glad to see the back of him at the end of this season. I regard him as poor as PdV. Zero rugby pedigree. Nothing but a forward’s coach who knows sweet FA about organising a backline. Also he has v tiny ballas because he’s always too scared to take bit of a risk and pick promising youngsters like Jordaan and Sithole. He always goes for his safe choices based on “experience” but very average skills ala Ndungane. I think Coenie Oesthuizen has more pace than Odwa. Its pretty obvious to me that Plum doesn’t know how to assemble a balanced squad. Instead he is always trying to plug the gaps. He’s had 4 years in charge and we are still nowhere and our team is still makeshift as they come. Its pathetic. Plum definitely doesn’t pay credence to the myth surrounding Kiwi coaches. Perhaps he’s just spent far too long in SA because even these days the pinkie tip Bulls who’ve traditionally been the bash em up merchants in SA are playing more intelligent rugby than the Sharks. Time for Plum to sling his hook and retire. He’s proven that he’s not a S15 coach.

@Sydney Shark(JayDaFiveOh)-15:
That’s why some good players have had to leave The Sharks for other franchises. Plumtree has overlooked so many youngsters and stuck with slow average players like Terblanche and company.
Why he keeps Jannie du Plessis around is beyond me. Jannie has always been very average to poor and gives away penalties in almost every game. Jacques Botes is a rare talent and works at 110% in every game but the poor oke hardly ever starts a game. He probably makes more line breaks than most of the centres. Botes could be a brilliant fetcher if he had been given the right coaching but his talents are wasted in this team.

@White Shark(Predawn)-16: Unbelievable that you don’t have a fetcher in the starting line-up!! How can any coach worth his salt not have a starting fetcher starting every match is beyond me!! So remedial it hurts. In the modern game its essential. And if your starting fetcher just isn’t up to scratch then find another specialist fetcher!!
Plum is dof dof dof!! I’ve had enough of him. He has the rugby nous of PdV and he’s meant to be a forward’s coach?!! GIVE ME STRENGTH!!! You should be basing your whole forwards strategy around the fetcher. This is why the Sharks get hammered at the breakdown every time because we have no-one scraping for the ball and then we literally live off scraps. Get Plum out now. The guy has no idea what he’s doing. Blows the whole Kiwi aura thing out of the water.
Have your say
