Bismarck still in doubt
17 Apr 2012
Bismarck du Plessis is still battling a thigh injury and will only start training with the Sharks on Thursday.
Du Plessis missed the Sharks’ clash with the Blues last week. It was hoped that the Springbok hooker would be available for the Sharks’ crucial match with the Chiefs this Saturday, but John Plumtree has confirmed that Du Plessis has been unable to train.
Plumtree said he would give Du Plessis extra time to recover. If Du Plessis doesn’t pass a late fitness test, Craig Burden will start at hooker against the Chiefs.
The Sharks will also make a call on the availability of flank Marcell Coetzee, who has a shoulder injury, later in the week.
The good news is that No 8 Ryan Kankowski could make his comeback from injury this week, albeit in the Vodacom Cup. Prop Beast Mtawarira, who hasn’t featured at all the season due to a serious leg injury, is also expected to return to action in the next fortnight.

Beast needs work on his scrummaging. Has faded in last year when he was playing.

Burden has been playing magnificently a la Schalk Brits or Deon Fourie. It is good to see so many dynamic hookers in SA rugby

If bismarck wants it badly enough, he can be the best hooker of this decade.

Pity Bissie is out injured for this game against the Chiefs. Burden though was superb in the last two games.
We do miss Beast huge. Can’t wait for him to be back. Think they said he would be back after our bye.
Have your say
