Stormers stem Red tide
20 Apr 2012
JON CARDINELLI watched the Stormers repel a late Reds rally to record an impressive 23-13 win in Brisbane.
The Stormers continue to deliver in the face of trying circumstances. They went into this game without Schalk Burger, Jean de Villiers or Andries Bekker, and still they managed to play with the composure and resolve needed to topple the best Super Rugby has to offer.
Some will argue that the Stormers should have put this Reds side away by more, as the Queenslanders suffered some serious injuries early in the piece. Coach Ewen McKenzie would have been feeling a sick sense of deja vu as flyhalf Sam Lane and then centre Ben Tapuai left the field inside the first 10 minutes. At that point the Reds were already 10-0 down, and were battling for any sort of momentum.
But to dismiss the Reds’ effort under these circumstances would also detract from the Stormers’ achievement. The Reds fought hard to stay in the game, and as the clock wound down in the second half, the visitors were made to fight just as hard to keep the Reds at arm’s length.
At times the Stormers attacked with confidence and purpose, but it was another fantastic forward effort and titanic defensive display that earned them an important win. The Cape heavies made an impression at the collisions from the first minute, and maintained that intensity throughout. It was at the point of contact where they troubled the Reds, and in many instances created attacking opportunities.
It didn’t matter that the Stormers struggled for territory. The Reds pack battled to build momentum from the scrum and at the collisions, and the Stormers were quick to pounce on a turnover and unleash a backline that was in a mood to counter-attack.
It was a turnover that allowed the Stormers to win a lineout deep in the Reds’ half in the 10th minute. Juan de Jongh crashed it up before Peter Grant attacked the line. Grant then effected a telling offload in the tackle to Gio Aplon, and at 10-0 the visitors had raced to a good lead.
The Reds managed to settle as the half progressed, but showed a lack of discipline in that crucial period just before half-time. A penalty attempt by Ben Lucas dropped short and the Stormers ran it back at a disorganised Reds defence until they were deep in the opposition 22. Some terrific skills allowed the Stormers to keep the ball alive, and from a later phase Grant sniped again, reached for the tryline, and scored.
At 17-3 it appeared to be all over for the shell-shocked Reds. McKenzie had gone into this match with five forwards on his bench and the early injuries to Lane and Tapuai had forced him to field both of his backline reserves. The Reds were hanging on at half-time.
The Stormers showed their composure in the second stanza. It wasn’t a case of defending a 14-point lead, but more a case of understanding that the Reds were battling to trouble their forwards. And as the game continued, the Reds did indeed become more desperate.
The hosts had their chances to narrow the deficit, and turned down a few shots at goal in favour of a crack at the tryline. The decision proved flawed as Rob Simmons lost the ball over the line, and the Stormers defence managed to clear from a subsequent scrum. This was but one of many instances where a Reds venture into Stormers territory culminated in a frustrating turnover.
It was far from a perfect showing from the Stormers, and while their leaders pulled them through they missed Andries Bekker’s management skills at the lineout.
The visitors’ blew a few early opportunities through lineout turnovers in good attacking positions. They also gifted a try to James Horwill in the 63rd minute when replacement hooker Deon Fourie missed his jumper at a set piece five metres from his own tryline.
But the Reds never looked like closing the gap. Their desperation grew as the full-time hooter drew close, and they passed up a shot at goal in favour of another dip at the tryline.
Again it ended in a turnover. They managed to win another penalty which Mike Harris duly slotted, but then they blew any chance of a draw or indeed a losing bonus point when they conceded a three-pointer at the other end of the park.
The Stormers still lack the killer instinct to be considered a real title prospect, but what is clear is that there is a tremendous belief in their playing pattern.
Their defence was the difference on this occasion and takes them to two wins from three tour matches. With only the Force to play, they have a good chance of making that record three from four and stretching their lead at the top of the South African conference.

They say freak,
When you’re singled out,
The red, well it filters through.
So lay down, the threat is real,
When his sight goes red again.
Seeing red again,
Seeing red again.

We all bleed red, all taste rain, all fall down, lose our way,
We all say words we regret, we all cry tears we all bleed red,
Sometimes were strong, sometimes were weak; sometimes were hurt
It cuts deep; we live this life breath to breath; were all the same
We all bleed r-e-e-e-d-d-d

Ten thousand feet fun-fair
Convinved that I don’t care
It’s safe as houses I swear
I was just sitting musing
The virtues of cruising
When altitude dropping
My ears started popping

The Oz pool is very weak this year. I am afraid that some of the teams would have trouble beating england by more than a few tries.
20 Apr 2012, 11:30 am
go stormers
20 Apr 2012, 11:32 am
kostaz web always worked for me abroad to watch the games…

Nice game Landers…

need to dominate upfront and attack the flyhalf and inside center channel
20 Apr 2012, 11:36 am
This is actually a crappy Reds team. As evidenced by their performances to date.
Stormers shouldn’t have any trouble.
20 Apr 2012, 11:36 am
stevewarren – Agree. The stormers backline is very flairy looking, they must run that blasted ball and score some tries, more than the reds hopefully!!
20 Apr 2012, 11:41 am
Stormers penalty within the first minute of the game.
Grant to take the attempt at goal.

20 Apr 2012, 11:46 am
I watched the full replay of the Crusaders game and the refereeing was bad both ways (starting with Carter being called for a knock on in the opening minutes when he kicked forward and Crusaders were chasing for a try). The numerous accusations on here that the referee had cheated or was biased were just plain bolllocks.
it was just **** refereeing, not biased

Agreed.

20 Apr 2012, 11:48 am
@chch(chch)-37:
I assume you mean the Crusaders Stormers game.
Agreed. No cheating. The Stormers gained from a try from a forward pass that wasn’t called, and the Crusaders gained from an illegal turnover at the ruck which led to their only try.
In the end the Crusaders deserved to win that game. The refereeing was poor both ways.
20 Apr 2012, 11:48 am

Another thumping tackle by De Jongh.

Think the Stormers will be too strong for the Reds.
I see only a few sides capable of challenging them near the top
* Chiefs, Crusaders, Bulls (and if the planets align themselves Sharks but thats a long shot)
20 Apr 2012, 11:56 am
Looks like the Reds won’t be taking back the “Australian Quota Club charity lucky crappy team semi-final spot” today
20 Apr 2012, 11:57 am

Aplon is amazing on defence and attack.
20 Apr 2012, 11:59 am
Aplon is my favourite African player
20 Apr 2012, 11:59 am
Give it time guys. This game is only getting started. Reds have a good work ethic and can come back. Jeez, you ppl are so emotional….
20 Apr 2012, 11:59 am
@WP Till I Die(WP-Forever)-35: so much for Hondo’s midget.
20 Apr 2012, 12:00 pm
This Stormer’s team is extremely rounded… stoic defence, strong pack, excellent backs…
Offensive tackle… JDJ… turnover… line-break… JDJ… try-assist… JDJ… try Aplon…
Let that put to rest that JDJ is defensively frail and that his passing has not improved…
20 Apr 2012, 12:01 pm

20 Apr 2012, 12:21 pm
Peter Grant ran through virtually the entire Reds defense there. I have to admit it when I see it – that was quality for sure !
20 Apr 2012, 12:21 pm
@WP Till I Die(WP-Forever)-84: Agreed. JdJ is a better inside centre.
What skills… Ginger has fantastic ball skills, then Aplon AGAIN.

I am so chuffed that Grant is taking the kicks.
20 Apr 2012, 12:23 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-82:
For sure… but they seem to have an ‘attack from anywhere’ confidence in them with the Reds being so out-of-sorts this season…

Painfully so…

Reds = Flash in the pan one hit wonders!! Hahhaaaaa……..Loftus broke their back again. They will have nightmares about Loftus for long after this season has finished.
20 Apr 2012, 12:29 pm
We must press ahead for 5 points now.
Habana was in a slight state of shock with the fact that he’s getting passes in the first 20, earlier this season playing next to JDV he looked like he was loafing for a stukkie bal.
20 Apr 2012, 12:29 pm
@viewer(viewer)-89: no, we don’t.
i know from listening to all the commentators and players… mccaw will say “it’s always tough going to africa and the africans play a physical type of game”
if you watch reunion, they also say “africans”, maybe if zimbabwe was also part of sanzar then they’d have to differentiate.
20 Apr 2012, 12:30 pm
4 try bonus gettable?
20 Apr 2012, 12:31 pm
I seem to recall a certain kenner saying the blueprint to winning rugby is to kick it in your own half an possibly in you opponents half as well. He must be completely baffled that a team can score from their own tryline, never mind their own half. He must feel pretty d00slik now.
A positive mindset and belief, can do wonders.
20 Apr 2012, 12:32 pm
@AiDoc(AiDoc)-104: your favourite black rugby player from the African continent or your favourite African rugga player? Cause I think Ngwenja from America is quite an exciting young black winger….but he’s not from Africa.

@viewer(viewer)-145:
Disjointed.
20 Apr 2012, 13:15 pm

@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-143:
If the stormers lose against the reds they are utter rubbish.
20 Apr 2012, 13:21 pm
Saying the Reds threw this game away is a bit harsh when they had some many injured in the game (and of course the Stormer’s defence was rock solid as per norm)… but those 3 missed PK’s and fumble over the line cost them a much needed win.
Well done Stormers… first RSA side to win at Suncorp…
20 Apr 2012, 13:21 pm

20 Apr 2012, 13:29 pm
Fern, the Reds are like the Lions at the moment with injuries…
You right. They should win… I didn’t think the Breezers had the ballas to win, even against an understrength Reds… And they didn’t.
The Reds just had less ballas…
20 Apr 2012, 13:32 pm
Job well done Stormers!
20 Apr 2012, 13:33 pm
This Stormers side should have thrashed the daylights out of this Reds team. It is instructive that they didn’t. And its a bit of a disgrace that with the Boks in their backline that they couldn’t even score a bonus point against a very weak and quite obviously demoralised Reds side…
Not very impressive at all.
20 Apr 2012, 13:34 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-153: Suck it up ******. Come talk to me tomorrow after the Chiefs rip your team to shreds!
20 Apr 2012, 13:39 pm
The only thing good about the Stormers backline at the moment is JdJ and Aplon… The former though will be cast off yet again to be understudy when Munster Superstar Captain gets back in the saddle….
A shame really.
Sharks are probably outscoring Stormers at 2 to 1 in the try count this season…
Bulls and Cheetahs much higher in the try count too…
I reckon the Lions are even scoring more tries than the Breezers…
Shows how fcked up these laws are that a side with no ability to score tries can get the benefit of doubt from refs and be in the top half of the table…
20 Apr 2012, 13:39 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-156: You just make yourself look like a fool with the drivel you produce on this thread.. firstly you had a whole song being put into numerous post of just how the reds will prevail and how the stormers bubble will burst again…
Now you try and hide behind the fact that the stormers did not score four tries..
Shame… you poor guppie
20 Apr 2012, 13:41 pm
Fishfood RFC PRO HG
Wont you sing your lil song again please?
20 Apr 2012, 13:41 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-156:
Another HG prediction down the drain.
How does it feel to be wrong so often?
Clutching to straws afterwards only makes it look worse.
20 Apr 2012, 13:42 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-158: Why dont you look at the wins vs losses column of the stormers and then again at the one for the guppies…
20 Apr 2012, 13:45 pm
well done on your win stormers.
of course theres a bonus point nuclear bomb coming tomorrow now the bulls know what they need to do.
20 Apr 2012, 13:46 pm
Which team is currently top of the log?
20 Apr 2012, 13:47 pm
very good win this, bounced back exceptionally well against defending champs in brisbance minus a few key players, stormers to go all the way this year.
20 Apr 2012, 13:47 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-158:
Sharks might be outscoring the Stormers but the Stormers have beaten them 4 x in a row since the start of last season (including the friendly).
And they are leading them by a mile on the log this season and ended above them last season.
So explain to me what is the benefit to the Sharks in outscoring them at 2 to 1 in the try count as you so proudly pointed out
20 Apr 2012, 13:47 pm
Just came to see the comments here but goodness me what a little ray of sunshine @Heavens Game is! What’s your mum feeding you son? ****?
20 Apr 2012, 13:48 pm
Well done to the Stormers.
Sorry to disappoint all the WP haters.
Get used to it.
We could have put the nail in the coffin, but we stuffed up in too many set pieces today.
The Reds played Walshie very well, they were lying on our side at the rucks all game long, but at the end of the day we had enough momentum after the first half to put them away.
20 Apr 2012, 13:50 pm
@houston, we have a problem…(i_love_u_bakkiesbotha)-163: The Bulls have it all to play for tomorrow.
20 Apr 2012, 13:50 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-158: Pop……………….pop………………..pop……….
Shame you wanna be tops? Win more games. Shame just look at how much games your team has won. Bwahahahahahahahahahaha.
20 Apr 2012, 13:53 pm
well done stormers. Now we just need the sharks to teach the chiefs a lesson.
I must say though I find it worrying how the stormers switch off after getting a lead.
20 Apr 2012, 13:55 pm
@Robzim(Robzim)-166: @Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-158:
Bro.
To date your team is NOT outscoring your opponents by a count of 184 – 206. (-32)
The Stormers on the other hand are outscoring our opponents by 193 – 141. (+52)
That’s a points difference of 84 more than the Sharks.
But you carry on with your “more tries” angle.
That’s obviously working out really well for you guys.
20 Apr 2012, 13:57 pm
Sharks are gonna be klapped at the fishbowl tomorrow, and they will end mid table this year. Maybe 9th if they’re lucky.
20 Apr 2012, 13:59 pm
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-172: LOL LOL
Don’t bother. Logic and comprehension isn’t Heavens Gat’s strong suit, poor kid.
20 Apr 2012, 13:59 pm
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-169:
yip, and i’ve got a feeling they gonna go bos.
expect another reds/cheetahs style running of the bulls.
20 Apr 2012, 14:04 pm
I think the bulls are going to kill the brumbies so thats a given, the sharks vs chiefs game on the other hand is going to be tough. Hope the proper sharks pitch up.
20 Apr 2012, 14:05 pm
@houston, we have a problem…(i_love_u_bakkiesbotha)-175: Obviously I would want them to win, but I must admit, I have a bit of a conundrum here…….
20 Apr 2012, 14:06 pm
well done stormers.
Not badly played either.
Now thats over with, i would like to point out something.
It seems weird that a few of you jump down HGs throat when hes having a dig at your team but when he acts the same way when the Boks vs the ABs, you all shut up and let him carry on.
Suck it up i say. As you were HG.
20 Apr 2012, 14:07 pm
Can someone please tell me when this stormers ‘bubble’ is going to burst? We’ve been hearing about this bubble bursting from mid April, and I’ve been waiting
HG the leader of the doom-prophets pack.
20 Apr 2012, 14:08 pm
Well done Stormers. Winning becomes a habit and as the adage goes if you continue winning the rest will fall in place. There are many negative comments made but jealousy is a nasty thing.
Good luck to both the Sharks and Bulls tomorrow. Do us proud, esepecially the Sharks who could assist both the Bulls and Stormers if they win…
20 Apr 2012, 14:11 pm
@Robzim(Robzim)-166: Its called actually playing rugby…
You know… the whole point of the game… why Willy Webb actually picked up the ball in the first place… To run with it… Because he thought kicking was for sissies and that it was boring….
To score tries is the whole point of Rugby… If its not, then its not Rugby…
20 Apr 2012, 14:11 pm
@SteveWarren(SteveWarren)-176:
true, this is a game both the bulls and stomers will be hoping the sharks come to the party and find some bite.
besides, they’ve got a playoff semi worth chasing too.
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-177:
well expect your conundrum to burst come tomorrow 9:00pm.
20 Apr 2012, 14:12 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-178: How are you Hurricunt…. Lifes unfair hey, sheepshagger?
20 Apr 2012, 14:12 pm
Brisbane can be a very difficult place to get a good result.
Stormers should be happy with win. Well done.
20 Apr 2012, 14:12 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-158: Shame, cry me a f@@king river. One thing’s for sure, the guppies will once again finish below the Stormers.
20 Apr 2012, 14:13 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-178: look hg is a whining old cu nt. if i was in a pub and the boks were playing the ab’s and he was there, i’d rather go sit with the ab supporters. that goes for some other bok supporters on here as well.
20 Apr 2012, 14:13 pm
20 Apr 2012, 14:13 pm
One good thing about Kolisi, and he has many, is that he never loses his cool, he is not interested in personal battles, he only wants to play rugby. Very clinical guy and still 20 years old
20 Apr 2012, 14:14 pm
Reds ruin my weekend already
20 Apr 2012, 14:15 pm
How can anyone survive being so sad and miserable. Eish man…
20 Apr 2012, 14:16 pm
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-172: I see you mention points…
Rather convenient…
How about some try stats… or does that look too farken hideously embarrassing…
Those points include all those little complimentary gimmes in the last 10 mins against the Bulls, Lions and Sharks… glad you can officially claim them but add them up and you have 18 points absolutely given by refs…
But no tries…
Its almost right to say that the Breezers are a ref dependent team… No more… no less…
20 Apr 2012, 14:16 pm
@the peanut gallery(peanut)-186:
And I’d buy you a beer…………………………………………….maybe two.
8)
20 Apr 2012, 14:16 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-181: Lol and here I was thinking the point of rugby was to finish the game with more points than your opponents
20 Apr 2012, 14:16 pm
I didn’t watch the game, so can’t really comment. Just flippen glad we beat the champions…
20 Apr 2012, 14:16 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-181: While you get under people’s skin most of the time,the statement below hits the nail on the head. It should be the philosophy everyone who is involved in either coaching or playing aspires to.
“You know… the whole point of the game… why Willy Webb actually picked up the ball in the first place… To run with it… Because he thought kicking was for sissies and that it was boring….”
20 Apr 2012, 14:17 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-183:
Life is unfair my little Heavens Gayme.
You seem to be making alot of friends in here.
20 Apr 2012, 14:17 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-181:
That’s why a try was worth only one point which then allowed the team to try and kick a goal, which was the actual purpose of the original game.
20 Apr 2012, 14:17 pm
@Atreides(Atreides)-193:
20 Apr 2012, 14:17 pm
I think the day will come when the stormers will score the bonus point. But for now 7 wins out of 8 and 3 of those away from home makes for nice reading. The stormer s are yet to lose a game at home which really speaks a lot of they quality of this team.
You know stats is a tricky thing and sometimes people will try and read too much in it. The fact of the matter is that without three senior players and effectively leaders in this squad out with injuries, the stormers still managed to play the same rugby their structures require.
Looking at it this way: They have lost Schalk, JDV, Andries Bekker to injuries and also have lost players like JJ, Jaqcue, Sadie, etc to other unions. Why are they not sitting on the bottom of the log then like the lions? The lions only lost about 4 -5 players that could be considered any good?
More praise has to go to this stormer team that seems to be written off every week by the media and bloggers alike, but somehow seems to keep winning games.
20 Apr 2012, 14:18 pm
@the peanut gallery(peanut)-186:

Ok, sounds good.
20 Apr 2012, 14:21 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-181: And here I thought that the aim of rugby is to score more points than the other team. Think we need to go back in time and give old Billy a slap when he came up with the idea of kicking penalties and conversions….
20 Apr 2012, 14:21 pm
Pop goes the weasel…!
20 Apr 2012, 14:21 pm
Some people here always blame the ref when they lose, something I will never stoop to. Go check all my posts and see if I have ever blamed anyone by the players themselves…
Says so much about the culprit moaning about the poor quality of the Stormers team when it is not even his team. BUT when his team loses it is the ref… Shame but true… Sad sad sad…
20 Apr 2012, 14:21 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-181: So help me if i don’t understand correctly….according to your version of ‘Rugby’…that only tries count on the scoreboard if we discard all the penalties and conversions…the Stormers still would’ve won 2 – 1?
So what is your point exactly? By how many tries should the Stormers have won for you to accept that they beat the Reds at a game of ‘Rugby’ ?
20 Apr 2012, 14:22 pm
@the peanut gallery(peanut)-129: hahaha
20 Apr 2012, 14:23 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-191: Eish… what about those tries against column hey?? Sharks seem to be getting given up the p00p more than actually giving it too
20 Apr 2012, 14:23 pm
Well played Stormers..
Would have been good to get the bonus point… but they deliberately took their feet off the gas once they were ahead and then just did enough to stay ahead… to conserve energy for the rest next weekend of a strong of really tough, physical matches…
Well done… Very proud of the guys…!
20 Apr 2012, 14:23 pm
@pompies2(pompies2)-195: Okes think its great when refs and the laws reward negative play… When you don’t have to score tries to win games… When the attacking/try scoring side does not get benefit of the doubt.
Its a fckup and the Breezers are not only fcking up the talent in their backline but at the vanguard of messing up rugby totally….
20 Apr 2012, 14:25 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-191: Ok, lets look at Tries.
How about you go and find a stat that shows the Stormers vs Sharks this year, Tries for vs Tries against??
I can’t be arsed to look too hard myself but this week is Stormers 2 – 1.
I’m pretty sure we will be in comfortable positive territory, and there will be a good chance that your statistic will be negative.
So ja, one of the most entertaining parts of watching rugby is watching tries, but that doesn’t tell the whole story now does it???
20 Apr 2012, 14:25 pm
@IceMan612(IceMan612)-204: So true so true!!
We outscored the Crusaders but got the harsh end of Mr Pollock… so we lost a game
Getting 4 tries in a game is exactly what the point imply.. a bonus…
20 Apr 2012, 14:25 pm
Now we blame the refs and laws again. I thought rugby was about playing to the laws and to the refs interpretation. Wrong again…
20 Apr 2012, 14:26 pm
@ufo(ufo)-207:
lol, they deliberatly took the foot of the gas??
Now UFO, are you sure you believe that my friend?
20 Apr 2012, 14:26 pm
@IceMan612(IceMan612)-204: I’m inclined to agree with HG on this. Lack of try bonus points could mean the difference between a home semi or not. At worst, it could mean the difference between making the playoffs or not. The stormers, as has been said a few times on this site seem to play not to lose. Surely with the score being 17-3 at half time, you would’ve pushed for a try early after half time, to maximize the time to get the 4th try, while also putting a score distance between themselves and the reds.
20 Apr 2012, 14:27 pm
Tomorrow if the Sharks lose, and I really hope I’m wrong, then the ref will be lamblasted or the culprit will be nowhere to be seen…
20 Apr 2012, 14:28 pm
@pompies2(pompies2)-195:
Good post Pompies2.
Even the fattiest love a run with the ball in hand.
8)
20 Apr 2012, 14:28 pm
@ufo(ufo)-207:
sheesh…. that was nonsense…
but they deliberately took their feet off the gas once they were ahead and then just did enough to stay ahead… to conserve energy for the force match next weekend after a string of really tough, physical matches…
and after the force we have a buy… to recharge the batteries…
20 Apr 2012, 14:28 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-208: Hey HG…. you got me all excited about htis scoring tries thing that I suddenly realised that would mean that we won the 2010 title!!! Yeaaayyyy!!!!!! Remember???? that game where the stormers scored 2 trties to 1 of the bulls in Orlando??
20 Apr 2012, 14:28 pm
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-209: You seem to be avoiding the whole crux… Disguise it as much as you like, labia lawyerly type, how many tries have the Stormers scored this season… Not points, ref dependent… Tries, team dependent….
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Stormers are in the bottom 3 teams of the S15 for tries scored…
A disgrace for rugby actually….
20 Apr 2012, 14:28 pm
@pompies2(pompies2)-213:
Then again losing by less than seven only gives 1 bonus point. I would rather get the four for a win first than be happy with one for four tries and one for less than seven. Goes both ways…
20 Apr 2012, 14:29 pm
@Bill Reyts(Gumboots)-211:
Exactly Bill.
I will be watching your posts carefully during the championship cup
20 Apr 2012, 14:30 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-212:
i actually do…
it’s a long season and it’s about pacing yourselves…
AC has said many times it’s about getting the win… once that was looking probable there was a definite ease-up….
20 Apr 2012, 14:30 pm
@Bill Reyts(Gumboots)-211:
You should post more often Billy.
Far more often.
20 Apr 2012, 14:31 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-220:
I have NEVER blamed the ref mate. Go back and check and watch me like a hawk…
20 Apr 2012, 14:31 pm
of huge concern to me was eben’s arm/shoulder…
he held it very lam when he came off and it was in a sling after the match…
20 Apr 2012, 14:31 pm
@cane(cane)-222:
20 Apr 2012, 14:32 pm
@ufo(ufo)-224:
20 Apr 2012, 14:32 pm
@Bill Reyts(Gumboots)-219: That’s why i mentioned gunning for a try soon after half time. They should then have weighed up risk vs. reward. Is the risk of getting a 4th try worth the reward if the reds get a losing bonus point. I’m sure you’ll answer in the affirmative.
20 Apr 2012, 14:33 pm
@Provvas(Provvas)-217: Maybe… Which would make it a deserved win… Then again Sharks have outscored the opposing team try wise in a Super final more than once… many times.
20 Apr 2012, 14:34 pm
@ufo(ufo)-224:
maybe he’s resting it…took the foot off its gas… conserving its energy for next week..?..
20 Apr 2012, 14:35 pm
@pompies2(pompies2)-213: I think we all know the bonus of bonus points and it could make a huge difference….
But say we apply this rule of rahter winning games and not scoring bonus points:
Should the Stormers beat the bulls twice even with the bulls getting bonus points in those games.. they wold have gained 6 – 8 points difference in this specific scenario over the bulls… should both team keep on winning and only the bulls score bonus points… they will need 6 – 8 games to catch up to the deficit….. It seems a bit too much to ask in my opinion…
20 Apr 2012, 14:35 pm
@Bill Reyts(Gumboots)-226:
yeah bill…
walked off holding it very still by his side… and had showered and changed by the end of the game with his right arm in a sling…
20 Apr 2012, 14:35 pm
@pompies2(pompies2)-227:
Of course we all want the four try bonus points mate. It is a bonus and yes it can make the difference in the end. A lot of the teams bonus points are for losing by less than seven. Ask the Sharks supporters – they have a few
20 Apr 2012, 14:35 pm
@cane(cane)-222:
ja, because some bloggers here find the truth a little hard to stomach.
20 Apr 2012, 14:36 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-218: Ok let’s see how much you like this little stat… Tries per game:
Stormers 3 – Hurricanes 2
Stormers 0 – Sharks 0
Stormers 2 – Blues 2
Stormers 2 – Lions 1
Stormers 1 – Bulls 2
Stormers 2 – Highlanders 0
Stormers 2 – Crusaders 1
Stormers 2 – Reds 1
So the Stormers have only been outscored by tries once this year.
20 Apr 2012, 14:36 pm
@Bill Reyts(Gumboots)-232:
So Bekker and Eben crocked! Not good. Listen the last game on tour is always the most difficult to win and the Force are not the walkover at home that most think…
20 Apr 2012, 14:36 pm
@ufo(ufo)-221:
Well UFO, bonus points can make a difference.
If they do enough to win most games without bonus points, they may find themselves playing Saders in Christchurch in quarter final.
I on the other hand am going to give the Reds credit for stopping the Stormers getting there bonus points.
It is a long season but you have to hammer all teams. Make them scared of you.
They will remember a hiding, that will be in the back of the oppositions minds.
Better that above than to have the reds thinking now that they can win the next game. Only 10 points in it last time.
20 Apr 2012, 14:38 pm
@houston, we have a problem…(i_love_u_bakkiesbotha)-229:
i reckon so…
what would be the point of playing flat out.. injuring a couple of more players… and then losing to the force…?
look… i’m only speculating of course… but i believe that being able to pitch up and take the force we had to ensure there’s something left in the tank…. and then have a by to recover at home…
20 Apr 2012, 14:38 pm
@Heavens Game”
……………………….have outscored the opposing team try wise in a Super final more than once… many times.”
How many exactly, constitutes “many times”
1 or 2………………………………………….?
20 Apr 2012, 14:39 pm
@ufo(ufo)-231:
ja ok, i hope its not serious.
20 Apr 2012, 14:39 pm
@houston, we have a problem…(i_love_u_bakkiesbotha)-233:
Yep, and some bloggers just lie and lie so much that their world is all messed up.
20 Apr 2012, 14:39 pm
@Provvas(Provvas)-210: lucky tries !
20 Apr 2012, 14:40 pm
@houston, we have a problem…(i_love_u_bakkiesbotha)-233:
Sies Whitney… Hoesit…
20 Apr 2012, 14:41 pm
hurricanes vs crusaders….hmmmmm
who do i want to see win it less..
maybe a draw would be nice…..
20 Apr 2012, 14:42 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-218:
What satisfaction do you get by continuing like this?
Fact is the Stormers won- like they have done for most of the last 3 seasons – you know damn well at the end of the day it is all that counts.
The Boks won the WC final against England in 2007 without scoring a try- did you also say at that time that it was not rugby and a disgrace or did you celebrate the win like the rest of us?
20 Apr 2012, 14:42 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-218: The stormers have scored 14 tries in 8 games and conceded 9.. so still outscoring the opposition
The sharks have scored 21 and conceded 19…… almost 50/50 there…
The problem for the stormers is not scoring tries.. it is scoring 4 tries in a game!!
I will say it again.. do I prefer my team playing ruinning rugby like the cheetahs and hover around 10th position or do I like the way they play now and be no 1 on the log??
Hell no 1 looks good!!
20 Apr 2012, 14:42 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-218: I actually enjoy your little infantile rants. I think you are more obsessed with the Stormers than with the Sharks. Honestly dude you comment more on Stormers threads than on those regarding your team. Really amusing.
Ref depentant … team dependant…classic
I think you should be more concerned with the amount of games the banana boys have one than with the number of tries the Stormers have scored.
20 Apr 2012, 14:43 pm
@Provvas(Provvas)-230: At no stage should you compromise the result to get a bonus point. I didn’t say you should.
So assuming the Bulls win all the way through and the stormers have a hiccup or two, those wins over the Bulls become irrelevant. The point of getting a bonus point, specifically against a weaker side, is so that it either further enhances your position on the log or tries to claw back a deficit or to build up a buffer for when an off day comes and even on the off day, you should still try for the log points on offer.
20 Apr 2012, 14:43 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-236:
yeah bud…
but i think they’d rather take 4 points against the reds and 4 maybe 5 next weekend too… knowing they rest after that…
rather that than bust a few more players to get 5 this weekend and then not get any next weekend…
look obviously i would like to see the tries and bonus points too… but hell man… they ARE top of log (until the bulls and chiefs have their games anyway) and have been playing well…
a win’s a win as we always say… and i’m not gonna jump on the hater’s bandwagon and look for reasons to criticize…
i only need one reason to celebrate…
we won…
20 Apr 2012, 14:44 pm
I don’t know whether it has been updated since today’s games or not, but according to sarugby.net, the total number of tries scored in this year’s Super Rugby for the two teams is:
Stormers 13
Sharks 21
http://www.sarugby.net/tryscorers.aspx?categoryid=sarugby/super14&leagueid=1041&fullview=true
(Had to go through a five-page list of names here and add them up!)
20 Apr 2012, 14:44 pm
@kfc(kfc)-246: one = won
20 Apr 2012, 14:45 pm
@Bill Reyts(Gumboots)-214: it started yesterdayalready “why do the sharks come back from an oversees tour and get a kiwi ref, when have the stormers had a kiwi ref in any of their home games”
i had to remind the blogger that the stormers had glen jackson blowing their game against the blues at newlands
20 Apr 2012, 14:46 pm
@ufo(ufo)-248:
And well done UFO.
Your team deserved the win no matter what way anyone looks at it.
Scoreboard says it all.
20 Apr 2012, 14:46 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-236:
hey bud… if the crusaders played carter out of position and brought in the extra-tall timber just to play the stormers…
i reckon we’re getting there… it’s easy for the the fans to go off all the time… but the players know different…
20 Apr 2012, 14:47 pm
@stew(stew)-241: forward passes lucky tries… sure you will know about those.. but they still count as tries!!
20 Apr 2012, 14:47 pm
Great win Stormers. I just caught the second half. Great play Stormers. Lots of width from the backline and once again great dominance by the forwards.
20 Apr 2012, 14:47 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-240:
no…no lies…just straight and direct truth.. no more no less…
@Bill Reyts(Gumboots)-242:

20 Apr 2012, 14:48 pm
I think Pigsy (HG) may well have left the building.
You Brokebacks can be so cruel.
20 Apr 2012, 14:49 pm
@houston, we have a problem…(i_love_u_bakkiesbotha)-256:
Het jy toe die Game gekyk? Ek moes werk. Nie so ryk soos julle nie…
20 Apr 2012, 14:49 pm
Well strompies probably left 2 tries and a bonus point on the board,but a valient effort nonetheless and a win is a win ou pel
20 Apr 2012, 14:50 pm
@houston, we have a problem…(i_love_u_bakkiesbotha)-243: Dont worry the Saders are on the run to the play offs now
20 Apr 2012, 14:51 pm
@cane(cane)-259:
You have to be cruel to be kind mate.
20 Apr 2012, 14:51 pm
@cane(cane)-259:
He’s a loser,but knows when he has lost,quite used to that hopelessness by now imo.
20 Apr 2012, 14:51 pm
@pompies2(pompies2)-247: the problem with our argument is that the stormers lose a game and the bulls dont… Cause this is axactly the theory behind winning rather than getting bonus points!1 The stormers are the likely team not to lose more games but the bulls are… they still need to travel… should the bulls lose a game or two, their bonus points will count for sweet nothing!! And this is the importance of putting valuing a win over a bonus point..
20 Apr 2012, 14:52 pm
Would hate to be married to HG – he does not stop when he is on a roll. I support the Stormers but I am supporting the Sharks tomorrow and the Sharks may even come back – they have games at home in hand – HG can you stop talking rubbish – you are like a little boy who lost his toy and you forget about concentrating on rugby. Happens when you are trying to argue rather than discuss a topic. I support all SA teams – maybe not the Bulls I mean how can one support a team where the supporters wear horns and the team dresses in PINK, OK well I like Spies and Hougard is world class except for the tatoes – and JJ was my favourite player at the Stormers – so yes maybe I should look beyond the HORNS and the PINK.
20 Apr 2012, 14:52 pm
@kaksioek(kaksioek)-249: I make it 14 – 10 for the Stormers and 20 – 19 for the Sharks.
20 Apr 2012, 14:53 pm

@Transformation(Transformation)-251:
As far as refs are concerned the Stormers’ worst nightmare has never been kiwi refs.
It’s been Craig Joubert by a mile.
20 Apr 2012, 14:55 pm
@Hurricane(Hurricane)-178: You lot are more than capable of defending ourselves; you surely don’t need Saffies to defend Kiwis now.
20 Apr 2012, 14:56 pm
Come on the Sharks win tomorrow – daddy needs a new pair of shoes.
20 Apr 2012, 14:56 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-218: Well then you must be happy with all the entertainment that your team has created for everyone.
I for one do enjoy watching the Sharks games,
Against the Canes you let them score 6 tries in one match. Your team could only muster 2.
Good entertainment all round.
20 Apr 2012, 14:56 pm
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-267: 14 – 9 and 21 – 19 boys.. come on it is not that difficult to get on the net…

Hes not a problem at all, very harmless.

@Robzim(Robzim)-269:
Agreed,by a mile.
20 Apr 2012, 14:59 pm
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-267: Found another site that says Stormers have scored 12 and allowed 8, while the Sharks have scored 21 and allowed 19. This seems to be at the end of last weekend. So I can only assume the stats I listed earlier were in the process of being updated when I checked them and they had only listed included one of the two tries the Stormers scored today.
Doesn’t explain you docking the Sharks a try though
20 Apr 2012, 14:59 pm
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-272:
Howzit mate! 9 points from three games not a bad haul. I see most say that taking 9 points on the road is really good. I’m hoping for at least 13 though.

Stormers you might want to speak to the man.

@Pee Wee(Pee Wee)-170: @Provvas(Provvas)-162: @Slappes(Slappes)-173: It always amazes me how you guys react to Heavens game as if he is a true reflection of Sharks supporters. Heavens game is a braggart and certainly does not represent the majority of us Sharks supporters, who incidentelly were supporting the Stormers in this game, I refer you to Sharksworld. Yet instead of ignoring him, and taking the comments in the context from where they are coming you choose to stoop to his level and have a go at the rest of us or our team. Provvas side with the Chiefs if you will, real adult of you, hopefully that will not come back and bite the Stormers in their arse at the end of the competition.
To the other Stormer supporters congratulations! I didn’t see the game followed it on Rugby365 and am looking forward to seeing it when I get home.
Heavens game, please! don’t embarass us any further, the Sharks did not look that flash against the Blues and we also only won by only 7 points and the Blues are languishing last on the log with one win in all 9 rounds!
Anyway Go Bulls, Go Sharks!!!!! and go Crusaders!

no, they’ve done that a number of games now. built up a lead in the first half and then slowly gave it away through the course of the second half.
cant be a coincidence all the other teams are waking up in the second half.

considering that the Stormers only scored 17 points on the back of the Reds having 10 missed tackles, eight turnovers and six penalties in the 1st half alone, AC should be concerned as to his teams real ability to attack.
one thing is clear, fleckie is useless.

@Sharksgirl(Sharksgirl)-308: We don’t think HG is typical of Sharks supporters – most of us would think you are. Most Stormers fans want the Sharks to beat the Anzac teams. On a blog anyone who makes the kind of incendiary idiotic comments that people like HG and Skop make are bound to generate a lot of hostility – its human nature – and does not qualify as an achievement of any description. I’m sure you can relate. Go the Sharks. Do us proud and help peg those pesky kiwi low life swine ( working up a head of steam here) back for all of us.

Based on the years of posts from us… I’m pretty sure most Stormers supporters back all South African teams against foreign teams… so yes… we will be backing the Sharks to do this biz tomorrow…

@stormer in a teacup(stormer in a teacup)-336: Thank you Stormer, I hope they will, but have little faith, the Sharks are so inconsistent this SR, and I really think poor Plum has run out of ideas
But then the Sharks always tend to win all the games that we think they can’t win and lose those that we think they should win, so who knows! But I’ll stick with them our year will come ….eventually

But The Sharks often win those games where they are written off, lets hope this one is it!

@Transformation(Transformation)-346: Hey there Transie Molo unjani?
20 Apr 2012, 15:51 pm
Well done Stormers, talent is there balance is still not right. When you get that right you will be devastating. Its amazing that 2 seasons ago everyone was calling the Stormers pack a bunch of poofters and nothing wrong with the backline, now its the other way around. Pack is dominating but the backline can’t use whatever possession they get effectively. Imagine what it will be like when they get it together.
20 Apr 2012, 15:51 pm
@Bill Reyts(Gumboots)-331: I agree. She’s just too high maintenance.
20 Apr 2012, 15:53 pm
I just read that the Force players kicked out their coach, because he’s going to the Reds next year… So where is current Reds coach,mCkenzie off to next year?
20 Apr 2012, 15:53 pm
Well played Stormers!
Although they only have themselves to blame for being under pressure again. Without Bekker the line-out was a shambles, and not just for the try! (which we never got to see in slo-mo, I think the Stormers jumper was interefered with).
But the KEY moment for me was, when 17-3 up with a penalty on the 10 meter line, they chose to take the 3 points. That was surely the moment to go for the kill and kick for the corner? Try there and they were one short of the bonus point, besides possibly breaking the Reds spirits.

20 Apr 2012, 15:55 pm
Just for the sake of argument, i had a look at HG’s premise. If tries are all important in rugby, then keeping the opposition from scoring them is as important as scoring them yourself. So with that in mind, I did a comparisson. Actual log position with log point vs Nett Tries For vs Tries Against vs Nett point difference. Low and behold, the top six teams….are still the top six teams, just in different order. Yes that includes the brumbies o_0.
Log Log Diff. Diff.
Team Position Points TF VS TA Rank PF vs PA Rank
Stormers 1 33 5 5 42 3
Chiefs 2 31 11 2 54 2
ACT 3 24 3 6 27 5
Otago 4 30 7 4 16 6
Bulls 5 29 15 1 97 1
Canes 6 25 9 3 30 4
Saders 7 23 -1 9 15 7
Sharks 8 22 2 7 -10 9
Reds 9 21 -9 12 -53 13
NSW 10 21 2 8 2 8
Cheetahs 11 21 -4 10 -11 10
Force 12 17 -5 11 -31 11
Rebels 13 14 -17 15 -78 15
Lions 14 14 -9 13 -62 14
Blues 15 12 -9 14 -38 12
So interesting that even though HG (a bit of a cretin btw) promotes tries as all important, and lambastes the Stormers for underperforming, in the nett stakes they are still in the top six and the Sharks arent. I hope the guppies win tomorrow though.
Just thought it would be interesting.

20 Apr 2012, 15:56 pm
@bananaboy(bananaboy)-366: That is the irony of this season, Stormers have always had the lethal back line but never the pack to effectively use that backline, while the Sharks always had the power pack with the puffs in the backline who couldn’t use the ball they received. This year The Sharks and Stormers have swapped, our forward are not firing when we finally have an excellent if young backline! Of course our backline would be more devastating if instead of Ludick at 14 we would actually run Sithole there

20 Apr 2012, 16:11 pm
@pompies2(pompies2)-213: Look dont get me wrong, I would have loved to see the Stormers score 4 tries tonight. And I would’ve preferred (read they should have) that they score 4 tries against lesser opposition (hurricanes, blues, lions).
But, did you really expected the Stormers to beat the Reds by 4 tries on their home field? A Reds side, who is the current champions, who have (before the Stormers loss) have lost only once in their last 17 games at home?
Me, being a Stormers supporter, are very grateful for the 4 points against the Reds tonight.
We won, on the scoreboard by 10 points. Even if you go by pigsy’s rule book (the try colum), we won by 1. we won. 4 away point in the bag.

“I don’t have any thoughts exterior to what’s going on at Queensland Rugby,” McKenzie said.
“You can speculate all you like about that and the motivations and whatever, but in the end we’re trying to put in the best model for Queensland rugby. That’s all I’m concentrating on.
“I’ve had no discussions with the ARU about anything.”
When McKenzie inherited the Reds at the start of 2010 they were a side whose best finish in the previous four years was 12th.
In his first year the Reds went within a whisker of making the finals, finishing fifth on the ladder, and in his second they became the first Australian team to win the title since the Brumbies in 2004,
But McKenzie claimed even he had an expiry date as a head coach, and that he was ready to test himself in new avenues for the betterment of rugby in the state.
“I understand sport well enough to know that my time as head coach of the Reds is going to be finite and it was always going to be finite,” he said.
“You’ve got to keep changing the voices. I can change the players, I can change the staff around me – eventually everyone is going to be changed.
“You want to do that in a way that you can manage it yourself, get the best for yourself and the best for the organisation.
“This is all longer-term stuff. We’re not living in the moment, we’re trying to look two or three years ahead and think what it’s going to look like then and make sure it’s better than it looks now.”

Vermuelen is the Stormers most consistent player. Deserves a Bok call up. The English will not like his hard nosed approach in the first 60.
20 Apr 2012, 18:48 pm
Another win for the boys and it was never really in doubt. The only problem is they should have won by a lot more. The Stormers never make their trys look easy like other teams do. At some stage, they are going to have to put teams away in the manner of the Bulls, as horrible as it is to say that, its true and if it doesn’t happen…. it wont happen!
20 Apr 2012, 18:49 pm

From a Bull supporter, Stormer supporters, don’t worry about another missed bonus point. You won and that is imoortant, your team are looking fantastic, but should probably score more tries. Only 3 possible banana peels left, Bulls at Loftus, Sharks away , and Cheetahs if Stormers have a bad game and Cheetahs a blinder. Stormers will finish first and Bulls possibly 2nd. Which translates to 4th and possible home play off match (4 against 5). Crucial though to be at least 4 points ahead of Bulls before Loftus match end of May. Stormers may clinch the log there, or move down to 2nd. Chiefs will lose against Saders, and hopefuuly against Sharks tomorrow. Stormers don’t play Chiefs.
20 Apr 2012, 20:13 pm
So didn’t I tell you that the Duvenhage – Grant axis was as good as they come.. better than Hougaard – Steyn any day of any week.. also better than McLeod – Lambie any day of any year… and that Duvenhage should be Bok 2IC No. 9 no questions about it.. and rant been fck’d over by Bok management since Smit shafted him for his bumchum sharkievarkie sidekick Butchie boy in 2008…
Now its too late.. better youngsters in the wings.. Goosen is the way ahead.
Also Joe P. good enough for Bok 15, and JdJ the MAN for the Boks at 12 or at 13.. NO question asked.. WAY better than Olivier, and Steyn and JPP and the rest.
AND
Duanne Vermeulen the best No.8 in the country by a thousand miles and more…. better than Alberts, better than Strauss, better than Spies .. best in the west and best in any test…
Not to mention a FAR better choice for Stormers captain than Schalkie the Hulkie any day of ANY week…
Didn’t the Stormers fck ‘history’ one shot in the eye today.. didn’t they JUST.. in front of a baying house full of the Red tide the Stormers stood vas and didn’t budge and though Reds chucked the kitchen sink Stormers came out BAAS in the Brisbane Cauldron where Crusaders got bust in last years final showdown
Stormers WITHOUT
JdV, Bekker, Burger (thank the good Lord above) … twice now Burger has faced Reds as captain and capitulated.. Burger goes AWOL and waddaya know we smack them silly in their own back yard WITHOUT a Burgermeister in SIGHT.. Vermeulen is the MAN that Burger can only dream about…

Vermeulen is like Alberts with a brain!
20 Apr 2012, 20:34 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-428:
Yip, Vermeulen is the best no 8 in this country for sure- Got more all round skillsand rugby sense than the one dimentional slow legged Alberts, while show ponie Spies has proved many times that he goes awol when the going gets tough.
Re Burger…… AC is on record that the aim is to have Burger back in the team for the home match against the Cheetahs on 12 May. According to him Burger needs no warm up matches, he is the type of player who can walk straight back in the team.
So i guess that is how it will be- probably Kolisi, Burger and Vermeulen or Burger, Elstadt and Vermeulen- but you can bet your house on it that Burger will be back as flanker and captain.
20 Apr 2012, 20:39 pm
Kolisi 10,000 times the player that Burger could currently hope to be…
If Meyer don’t recognize Kolisi ahead of his blue eyed backscratching babies then he’s an utter dunce deluxe….
with Kolisi, Coetsee, Alberts, Vermeulen and Elsadt in the No.7 frame
NO place for Burger,, and Spies should take a distant possible impact off bench position…
20 Apr 2012, 20:41 pm
If Burger comes back and takes center stage f’ng ball carrying dunce deluxe genius in the mid field and takes captaincy away from Vermeulen or JdV we are FUCKED with a CAPITAL F… mark my words…

You rely on emotion and not brains. Dangerous.
20 Apr 2012, 21:01 pm
@carol(carol)-439: Bulls will whip the Brumbies tomorrow by at least 15 points. Bulls will play a high paced high intensity game at altitiude and the Brumbies wont know what hit them, Bonus point victory for the Bulls. Tell me is Stegman back for them?
20 Apr 2012, 21:02 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-433:
I agree that Burger will disrupt the present balance of the side, but to blame him for acting as a first receiver is unfair. I doubt whether he just decides to position himself there. It’s an obvious part of ACs strategy, which is why I’m impressed in Meyers attempt to find out what role each player has been given for his franchise before making a judgement on the players ability.
20 Apr 2012, 21:03 pm
@carol(carol)-435:
JdV is a MAN .. JdV is a CAPTAIN.. JdV got Gravitas.. JdV got BALLS.. JdV got BRAINS.. JdV got quite confidence and leadership skills.. JdV got suave charisma with refs and with players..
In Short JdV is a thousand times the player.. the man.. the captain that Burger could possibly ever hope to be .. or anyone else in SA for now in the captaincy race.. with Vermeulen being next best on the list..
AND if you were a chick looking for a catch JdV is 1,000,000 times the catch that Percy could possibly try and compete with in the ‘hot male’ arena…
20 Apr 2012, 21:08 pm
Last year JdV was done, one trick pony, injury prone, and useless. Now he is Super Storm!

20 Apr 2012, 21:09 pm
@David(David)-442:
Burger has disrupted the teams cohesion and balance for a LONG time under all your hero worshiping noses.. Burger is a disruptive influence without any doubt.. he does NOT bring balance or cohesion or creativity into this team.. in contrast he brings the reverse….
AC was not the architect of Burger to midfield ball carry general .. Rassie was.. and Rassie instilled this insanity into both Stormers and Boks game strategy which BACKFIRED like a f’ng cannon with a stopped up turret in the WC.. to the extent where we almost lost vs Wales and Samoa.. and we DID lose to Australia in the 1/4.. with Burger and FdP being the two most prolific contributors to that loss without a goddamn second DOUBT..
20 Apr 2012, 21:10 pm
@carol(carol)-439:
Do not bring this issue up here as skoppy is around and he is more dangerous than any lurking great white can ever be
He is a nice bloke though.
Chumming is to lure sharks by throwing a mixture of fish partsand blood in the water and as sharks have a very keen sense of smel they will be around in a flash most of the times.

another sharkievarkie bananaboy last bastion hopes and dreams siding with the blue suede shoes enemy.. well whatsoever is new around these parts?… Bulls will side with Sharks and Sharks will side with Bulls.. and ALL will side with whoever when it comes to Stormers on the horizon.. because Stormers hold the fear induced mania that threatens their so called arse creep bumchum legionary ‘supremacy’ in the SA rugby landscape..
Stormers fck BOTH Sharks and Bulls into oblivion this year.. as long as they leave Schalk off the captaincy carousel and use him purely as an impact off bench and do NOT fck around with the balance created by Vermeulen at back with Kolisi and Elstadt and Carr putting in the action from the side of scrum…and Koster at 8 when required off bench.
20 Apr 2012, 21:22 pm

Have you NOT been witness to Stormers SUDDEN reincarnation of supremacy they held in the good old days when loose forwards played as a committed combination of team ethic.. and NOT your blue eyed fckng wonder boy fcking up the works…
Burger could do squat against Bulls.. Reds.. Crusaders 2 years on the trot in recent years.. soon as he is GONE.. Stormers are suddenly putting it together like NEVER before… we WIN the close encounters when Burger is NOT there.. when he’s on the field calling the shots in close encounter affairs.. we ALWAYS come off 2nd best.. where you BEEN the past how many years or you STILL can’t see sh’t for toffee apples YET??
20 Apr 2012, 21:26 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-452: Now you are talking bullshit , I;ve been touting how good the Stormers have been looking for 2 years, you just seem to have a block when it comes to a Sharks supporter having a good opinion about any team other than the Bulls. The Bulls are a damn good franchise and what they have done with a relatively new side is amazing , but they haven’t hit the road yet. I luv the Sharks but not more than the game of rugby itself.
20 Apr 2012, 21:32 pm

How are you doing btw?
20 Apr 2012, 21:33 pm
very well thanks, hows your running and hows the Cotswolds?
20 Apr 2012, 21:33 pm
JdV is best candidate for Bok captaincy under current situation… Meyer does NOT need to bring some dead and buried f’ng has been dinosaur out of extinction to be his captain when he has the crux of leadership ingenuity that JdV can muster in a team.. WAY WAY better than Spies or Daniel or Strauss or Strauss or FdP or ANY one else in SA rugby right now…
And Vermeulen would get my vote as 2IC .. hard nut hardegat do or die hero soldier in the Juan Smith mold that will put the likes of Spies and even Alberts to shame….
JdV should have been PdV’s captain all the last 4 years and how much you wanna bet we would have CREAMED the opposition without J. Smit fcking up the goddamn works.. Matfield not as good a captain as JdV.. JdV should have captained Boks a LONG time ago.. him or Juan Smith.. neither Matfield OR Smit since 2008.
and Definitely NOT Burger or FdP.. NEVER in a thousand years…
20 Apr 2012, 21:35 pm
Yeah Schalk not what he once was, but how can you call yourself a stormers and bok supporter?
If there is one bugger in south Africa who gives 100% in every single game it’s schalk burger – stormers pack looking shithot with all the new winderboys blowing fire outa theirass but burger been doing out while they winning, while they losing, year after year – gdam legend! that is guts personified.
20 Apr 2012, 21:37 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-455:
I have to say my last memory of Schalk Burger on a rugby field before he was injured was that fantastic offload of him that sent Aplon away for his try against the Hurricanes. it can only be good to have him back, perhaps not as a captain, but surely as part of the 22 at least.
20 Apr 2012, 21:39 pm

Burger gives 100% of himself and in so doing he fcks the team to hell’ Burger fck’d Boks out the Wc with the Rassie f’ng brainwave of Burger the goddamn hero useless hopeless ball carrying moron who ran the entire game long INTO the opposition and TURNED over on the deck.. and the only ONE to gift wrap the Wallabies the only try of the game.
Since when do I have to be a f’ng moron Burger disciple to be a Bok’s or Stormers supporter.. is same as saying I must be a f’ng John Smit disciple before I’m a Bok supporter…??
Burger fck’s Both Stormers and Boks to hell… I do NOT want him to come stuff up the works as he does every time.. if it aint eye gauging or losing the ball on the ground in front of our posts its fcking up the balance in the team or carrying the ball at first receiver where he IS NOT WELCOME..!!
Burger must stay AWAY from captaincy and first receiver ball carrier and Both Boks and Stormers will be one hell of a long way further better off….

@carol(carol)-474:
Yeah, like nearly crashing into Percy’s front gate in Camps Bay trying to see whether he is around instead of concentrating on the road ahead of you.
20 Apr 2012, 21:59 pm
Robzim
Do you rate Juan Smith? Or did you rate Os?
20 Apr 2012, 22:01 pm
@ Skoppy i see you are again covering yourself in glory,i never swaw the game so i cannot comment on the game but well done your team won,but there is one thing i will agree with you on the stormers are a better team without schalk burger.
20 Apr 2012, 22:03 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-475:
Tell her Skoppy.
The most manly thing Percy has ever done is to take up surfing.
he will Hever be the next jonothan paarman but he can at least handle the gentle waves at muizenberg, you have to give him credit for that.
20 Apr 2012, 22:03 pm
Yessus what we talking now conditioner, Percivals pecs and donkeys timotei?
20 Apr 2012, 22:03 pm
@cab(cab)-477: you and your fck’d up ‘loyalty” is EXACTLY what fckd PdV out the WC and fck’d his chances.. by being LOYAL to idiots who could not produce when it counted..
Let the other franchises have Burger.. see exactly where he ‘fits’ in with them.. see if he makes the grade as center stage ball carrying f’ng hero at Sharks or Bulls or Cheetahs or Lions for that matter…
Loyalty ?? pffft go get a dog.. if that’s wtf you looking for
the sad fact is that AC is so fck’d in the head with this same ‘loyalty’ to Burger because of his so called invincibility and hero status ability as a leader and a do or die captain courageous… same as Rassie was fck’d in the head by such insanity.. that he will re instate Burger as captain and drop JdV and Vermeulen in the pecking order… and in so doing will fck up Stormers chances in this competition EXACTLY as happened both in 2010 and 2011…
20 Apr 2012, 22:06 pm
Stormers need burger back asap !! Alstead not the player he use to be.making to many enforced errors
20 Apr 2012, 22:08 pm
@Narutokun(Narutokun)-487: Elstadt is doing a good job. Burger can play off the bench in the second half.
20 Apr 2012, 22:08 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-482:
At his best Juan was world class.
Nearly as good as Andre Venter.
I never liked Os- he pissed me off the day he “quitted’ against the AB’s
He was a good all rounder – quite athletic- but he never really dominated in the scrums against top class opposition.
20 Apr 2012, 22:09 pm
@carol(carol)-479: I nearly said too much on here regarding Tasmin till I quickly realized Percy is part of the Keo clan so I better shut up about the rest of what I was gonna say…
But Tasmin is one goddess of a woman … and like I said.. I better not say any more than that.
20 Apr 2012, 22:09 pm
Vermeulen is no captain for crying out loud! He is 4th in line currently for Stormers. He captains one game against an injury ridden Reds team and now he is a captain? He ran out first and bumbled his way through 5 sentences. Did no captaincy.
20 Apr 2012, 22:11 pm
U a dmfk disloyal twatfaced *** running burger down the whole time – everyone knows the situation at province with respect to the talent edging burger out – WTF it’s you that’s coached then 6 straight wins – they are currently being coached by a coach I’ve said us **** and a jw disciple and all the structures were pit in place by another coach u been running down – Erasmus.
U dmfk ignoramus would still be phaying piefdastyle brokeback rugby were it not for these coaches u constantly decrying – u honestly think they dunno that it’s going to be hard to acvomadate scalk?
20 Apr 2012, 22:13 pm
Burger nowhere NEAR to Elstadt in terms of grunt and enforcer hard nosed hard arse… Burger like a baby puppy next to Elstadt.. Stormers need Elstadt FAR more than they need Burger.. by a billion miles…
The White Boks was built on 2 players.. and they were NOT Burger and Smit.. they were Juan Smith and Bakkies Botha.. they were the fulcrum heart of the Boks center core… neither Burger or Smit were must haves for Boks to be successful in preceding years,., but Botha and Smith were…
20 Apr 2012, 22:13 pm
Robzim
What I actually meant was this:
Juan is 30 odd and hasn’t played a minute in more than a year. Yet most will include him in their Bok team today if it is announced he is fit again. Yet Matfield is out for 7 months and it is unthinkable for him to play again?
Os retired and returned to win his second WC.
20 Apr 2012, 22:14 pm
@cab(cab)-492: get fck’d c’ntarse you dunno fckall about loyalty you dumbfck moronic little arsecreep hero worshiping twat…
20 Apr 2012, 22:15 pm
Useless spellchecker on this phone
20 Apr 2012, 22:15 pm
@cab(cab)-485:
Sorry, I lowered the tone for a while!
20 Apr 2012, 22:16 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-494: neither Smith nor Matfield should go NEAR a Bok team today.. same as FdP they are dead and buried has been’s.. just like Burger… the entire rigmarole collective of them…
20 Apr 2012, 22:18 pm
U as thick as a brick and fkd in the head.
20 Apr 2012, 22:18 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-494: Juan is on a rehabilitation programmes. Matfield retired and his condition – partly due to diet and partly to do with the exercise regime he currently follows – is not suitable to take to the field. The two cannot be compared.
20 Apr 2012, 22:20 pm
497, Carol
no worries – it’s def going to get lowered now
20 Apr 2012, 22:20 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-491: Did you WATCH the game today?.. I guarantee your Bulls and Sharks would have lost in Brisbane.. Vermeulen stood HEAD and SHOULDERS like a TROJAN on the battle field… something your piffle arsed little mommy’s boytjie Spies would run a mile away from tearing into the opposition liker a LEADER from the FRONT.. as Vermeulen did today..
You can’t see sh’t about this game your eyes are befuddled by hero worshiped balderdash idiocy and blue eyed cataracts covering them…
20 Apr 2012, 22:20 pm
Ashampoopaloo
Doubt whether Vic will return in any case. Smith I think is done too (pity). Fourie will be captain for 2 years. Hougaard to become the Christian Cullen at 15.
20 Apr 2012, 22:21 pm
@Robzim(Robzim)-481:
Yep I had done my homework, well I could not fly all over to CT and not know where Percy lived!
You live there and had no idea where he lived until I pointed it out to you! I don’t think he was home tho!
20 Apr 2012, 22:24 pm
Ashampoopaloo
I did, and Reds were poor. Aplon and Etzebeth was brilliant, Elstadt good too. Vermeulen was okay, but remember what Spies did against the Reds? MOM if I remember ?
And please stop using Bulls and Sharks in SA
E breath! We are enemies as much as any other SA teams
20 Apr 2012, 22:24 pm
Job done.
Didn’t catch the whole game. Only the important bits.
20 Apr 2012, 22:24 pm
Duane was huge.
Spies has been playing very very well in this campaign though too
20 Apr 2012, 22:27 pm
Michael
Conditioning program? And you honestly think that is like playing? Rules have changed, tempo has changed…..
20 Apr 2012, 22:27 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-503: Fourie is a hopeless captain he don’t have the head or the courage for captaincy.. it will be a HUGE mistake if Meyer makes FdP captain.. and like I said,., if he does.. and Boks LOSE under FdP or Matfield against England.. then Meyer better be bold and brave enough to learn the hard lesson that he fck’d up BIG for chickening out and turning to some overrated hero worshiped has been’s instead of those who are putting in the hard yards week in and weeek out on the S15 stage…
In fact Meyer should get his gat skopped big time if he fails under FdP or Matfield.. because then his cowardly conservative insecurity will have killed off the Boks chances for taking the lead from the front with a new breed of player and ideology from day one…
20 Apr 2012, 22:28 pm
@Heavens Game(Heavens Game)-8:
Stop smoking that kak, man. Come off that high.
Sharks have another massive game tomorrow. Come to think of it. Every game now is a massive game for the Sharks.
20 Apr 2012, 22:29 pm
Ashampoopaloo
Okay, whatever you say. Agree to disagree. But don’t come sing the Bok praises in a year or two.
20 Apr 2012, 22:33 pm
Spies has upped his game since taking captaincy.. he has had to because that what captaincy demands of one.. But nowhere NEAR to Vermeulen’s courage and strength and driving leadership from the front is Spies.. the only one that comes near to that in SA rugby is Alberts.. though I reckon Vermeulen is a far better schooled and knowledgable No.8 than him..
Vermeulen at 8
Alberts or Elstadt at 7,
Brussow at 6
Kolisi or Coetsee
(or at a far fetched push Spies) off bench
fck me the opposition will Kaaaaak big time with a capital K…
nobody needs Burger or anyone else with a loose trio like that…
20 Apr 2012, 22:35 pm
Michael
And my guy says Juan will play a game or 5 and be out again
20 Apr 2012, 22:38 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-511: sing the Bok praises under Matfield or FdP or Smit or Burger… not a chance.. won’t happen.. you can rest your bottom dollar on that…
I will always be a Bok supporter but I will NOT get bullshitted by cowardly chickenarsed retrograded actions by chickensh’t coaches who are too afraid to bust forth and go for broke and make hay while the sun shines brightly in the heavens…
I would have backed Matfield as captain the past two years ahead of Smit ANY DAY.. but not now… like so much else that ship has LONG PAST GONE and sailed away…
20 Apr 2012, 22:39 pm
great victory for the stormers and well deserved.currently the best saffa team.idon’t believe one bulls player will make it into the stormers team ….maybe hougaardt on the bench.
20 Apr 2012, 22:39 pm
Bok loosies in a squad
Brussow
Stander
Alberts
Elstadt
Spies
Vermeulen
My choice
20 Apr 2012, 22:41 pm
Ag Burger already done eveything there is to be done on the world stage and he’s not even 30 – he probably now just likes to braai the chicken and fry the lamb. He probably just sits back and has some more bees biltong with some rooiwyn – heerlik.
20 Apr 2012, 22:43 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-516:
And no Stegmann!
Thank god for small mercies.
20 Apr 2012, 22:46 pm
@cab(cab)-517: that supposed to be some kind of challenge or bait or what?? If he done everything bully for him.. let him re run the video tapes and get a hard on at his immortality…
Burger is not in the running his time has come and gone.. just like Matfield, Smith, Botha, Smit, FdP, Fourie they are ALL past tense hero’s… waiting for Godot to come and take their hand to the heavenly chariot that gonna take them to the lofty heights of hero worshiped heaven some day….
Move OVER and let the young hard edged manne show the way…
AB’s are gonna ax their aging stars and so should we.. but No we hero worship these schmucks like they some tin foil gods we keep obeisance too on our mantle piece…
20 Apr 2012, 22:46 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-513: Maybe, maybe not. Either way, future injuries doesn’t distract from the facts
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-516: Replace Stander with Kolisi and we’d agree.
Watching the evolution of the Bok squad over the course of this year will be fasciinating.
20 Apr 2012, 22:48 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-516: No Burger.. I think you even surprised yourself…
and No Coetsee or Kolisi.. but you include Stander…
he got done by Kolisi once this year.. wait till the re run.. he’ll get done by him again.
20 Apr 2012, 22:48 pm
IAAS
Go look at all my teams and tell me I’m provincialistic.
20 Apr 2012, 22:49 pm
517 ashampoopa
ai sies man, where are your goddamn manners?
20 Apr 2012, 22:50 pm
@cab(cab)-517:
cabby
20 Apr 2012, 22:51 pm
Ashampoola
Unlike you I look at the player, not the jersey. Why not select the whole Stormer team and stop wasting everyone’s time.
No doubt Kolisi will become a Bok, but so will Stander and Botha. Coetzee too.
All in good time.
20 Apr 2012, 22:52 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-521: If one goes by points scored by players FL? Coetzee is by far our most productive loosie right now
20 Apr 2012, 22:52 pm
@sharks_lover(sharks_lover)-524: another carnivorous barbarian thinking biltong and braaivleis is smaaklik funny.. wait till its your turn on the spit,… see how funny it is then.
@cab(cab)-523: I ain’t at 517.. you must have confused me with yourself or somebody else..
20 Apr 2012, 22:53 pm
And WTF is godot? cut out the fairy tale horseshit – next think we given another gdam lecture on Xmas or Easter!
20 Apr 2012, 22:53 pm
Michael
Are you a Stormer?
Can one openminded person please come blog here!
20 Apr 2012, 22:54 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-527: i see you still show ur 5 year old maturity, keep going old man, ur pathetic
20 Apr 2012, 22:54 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-529: need you ask??
20 Apr 2012, 22:54 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-525: check my loosie contingent.. they are not all Stormers
best loosies in the country for horses for courses program are
Vermeulen / Spies
Alberts / Elstadt / Coetsee
Brussow / Kolisi
Thats it
Stander gets close.. but no cigar I’m afraid to say.
20 Apr 2012, 22:55 pm
@cab(cab)-523: Maaners is not something one would link skopclown with cabby
20 Apr 2012, 22:56 pm
God help us all – another gdam lecture in enlightenment on some pagan ritual when all anyone cares about is whether the next course flies, crawls, gallops or runs. And I ain’t talking your magic mushrooms poesface.
20 Apr 2012, 22:57 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-529: Stander is good, very good, but he is really a number 7. There needs to be a backup 6 to Brussouw in the mix. Hence why I pick Kolisi and not Stander.
Injury to Alberts and in comes Stander.
You say you look at players not teams, so why not extend that curtousy to others.
20 Apr 2012, 22:57 pm
and for the deceent stormers supporters????? well done on todays victory, stormers playing with a lot of heart and brilliantly so
20 Apr 2012, 22:57 pm
Hello Sharky
what u reckon going to happen v chiefs?
20 Apr 2012, 22:57 pm
@sharks_lover(sharks_lover)-533: maaners= manners
20 Apr 2012, 22:58 pm
As I said, why not pick all these guys for the Boks.
Aplon
Habana
JdJ
JdV
Grant
Duvenhage
Verneulen
Elstadt
Kolisi
Etzebeth
Bekker
Gemmer
All run-on
20 Apr 2012, 22:58 pm
@cab(cab)-537: hiyas cabby, eish heart says Sharks , but ya im very worried about tomorrows match, Chiefs are a very good team this year
20 Apr 2012, 23:00 pm
@sharks_lover(sharks_lover)-530: its only barbarian carnivores who act like 5 year olds and think they so mature… I gave you a perfect scenario to consider.. wait till its your arse getting spit roasted on the fire.. see how funny it sound then..
and that isn’t a challenge to your maturity.. but to your humanity.. lets see how mature you go about such an advanced concern for others state of well being we get to consider on the flip side of the conscious awareness of humane maturity
20 Apr 2012, 23:00 pm
@Michael(mikeybrass)-535: for over all loose forward play Coetzee is far ahead as per the ratings on how a player is judged in performance to any other loose forward in SA
20 Apr 2012, 23:00 pm
540 SL
yes think it’s going to be close – helluva good team chiefs – they could do anyone actually this year.
20 Apr 2012, 23:01 pm
Michael
And you say Kolisi is more a Brussow type player? In what way?
20 Apr 2012, 23:03 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-541: blah bklah blah , same old drivel , go find something usefull to do in life dude, petty little outbursts on the net is not becomming of a so called man ur age” around 65 right???
20 Apr 2012, 23:05 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-544
errick MInnie is probably the player that comes close to Brussouw’s style of play , no other
20 Apr 2012, 23:05 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-539: Nope I didn’t pick them all
My Bok team today go something like this
F. Steyn
JPP
JdV (c)
JdJ
Aplon
Goosen
Hougaard
Vermeulen
Alberts
Brussow
Kruger
Etsebeth
Malherbe
Bismark
Greyling
Steenkamp. Chili, (Bekker / Elstadt), (Kolisi / Coetsee / Spies), Duvenhage, (Ebersohn / Taute / Pietersen), Lambie
20 Apr 2012, 23:06 pm
@Kleuter(Kleuter)-522:
Winding you up.
My run-on loosies would be:
8 Vermeulen – been saying it for a while and he’s having another good season.
7 Alberts – still think he’s the one to take Juan’s jersey
6 Brussouw – an important dynamic on the field particularly in tanden with Bissie.
Spies to speed up the game in the last half hour. I just question his abilities to read a game as an 8th man.
20 Apr 2012, 23:08 pm
@cab(cab)-543: Yeah Cab , but i know if the Sharks get it right, specially in DBN they can beat the Chiefs , but not going to be easy at all, what i find strange is that every match so far that the Sharks play against a KIWI team has, KIWI ref?? Hopefully tomorrows match wont be marred by rubbish reffing as has been the case so far this year
20 Apr 2012, 23:08 pm
@sharks_lover(sharks_lover)-545: blah blah blah yourself domkopff .. you the arsehole laughing at dumbfck idiotic stupidity and then calling other people immature… seems you got no clue about what maturity actually is.
20 Apr 2012, 23:09 pm
In your bloody faces you Stormer-hating Sharks and Bulls supporters!!!Why don’t you f0off and take that Cape Crusader supporters with you….well at least they only support one team unlike you k unts.
20 Apr 2012, 23:10 pm
@IAAS(I am a stormer)-548: although a very good loose trio , Alberts has just come back from injury and is a long way off form right now
20 Apr 2012, 23:10 pm
@sharks_lover(sharks_lover)-536:
Hope you referring to me. Long time. ^5.
20 Apr 2012, 23:10 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-547:
I probably chuck Engelbrecht in there somewhere as a bolter back liner ahead of Taute / Ebersohn / Pietersen
20 Apr 2012, 23:11 pm
@stormerforlife1(stormerforlife1)-551: i guess you also arouond 5 years old?? only Knut here is you moron
20 Apr 2012, 23:12 pm
@IAAS(I am a stormer)-553: nope wasnt referring to you lol
20 Apr 2012, 23:13 pm
549 SL,
yep sharks def got the ability to pull it out tge bag but they are missing Beast IMO – chiefs side just too good unless homecrowd can sway it and sharks play out there socks. Should be a great game
20 Apr 2012, 23:13 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-550: sober up old man, all i have to do is look at ur drivel and see what it’s like to be 5 years old again
20 Apr 2012, 23:15 pm
@cab(cab)-557: Yup missing Beast big time, and all this BS about other looseheads ahead of the Beast by some in here?? total rubbish , Beast will be back with a vengance , mark my words
Also not having a fit genuine 5 lock is hurting the Sharks too
20 Apr 2012, 23:15 pm
@sharks_lover(sharks_lover)-552:
It’s not the quickest trio around. But Vermeulen and Alberts are both adept at either 7 or 8 and know the short cuts around the field. And both know how to read a game and anticipate situations. Spies imo still has to get there.
20 Apr 2012, 23:16 pm
Hopefully the guppies can do the Stormers a favour by beating the Chiefs,but i seriously doubt it.
20 Apr 2012, 23:16 pm
IAAS
Good trio.
20 Apr 2012, 23:17 pm
@cab(cab)-557: Also the departure of a certain Smit is leaving its mark on Sharks rugby, that void is not easily filled
20 Apr 2012, 23:18 pm
559 SL yes exactly and about the lock
20 Apr 2012, 23:18 pm
@IAAS(I am a stormer)-560: i agree its a very good trio mate, my concern is Alberts is not fully over his injury, thus the missed tackles stats re him, we all know what he is capable of ,
20 Apr 2012, 23:20 pm
The Stormers should seriously push on next week for that five pointer.Bonus points might be crucial at the end of the day if we want to end on top of the pile.Chiefs and Crusaders only serious candidates to stop us in that regard.
20 Apr 2012, 23:20 pm
@sharks_lover(sharks_lover)-558: its schmucks the likes of you and this cabcnt who think they are so advanced and mature.. meanwhile you still a baby in a pram if you seriously wanna consider how Old and mature you dumbfck idiots like to think you are… you are a wee little kindergarten baby in life you dumbfck schmuckarse.. problem is you still haven’t realize it yet… carry on with giggling like a fckng two year old about biltong and braaivleis en hoender wat so smaaklik is dit stink..
20 Apr 2012, 23:21 pm
Also those always trashing JW?? well if my eyes aint deceiving me?? aint the Brumbies on top of the Aussie section???
And in a short space of time he is making them a force again, yes i think Bulls will whip them tomorrow , but that Brumbies team will get better and better as the self belief comes through
20 Apr 2012, 23:22 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-567: I REST MY CASE
20 Apr 2012, 23:23 pm
Vermeulen at 8
Elstadt / Coetsee / Kolisi 7
Brussow 6
Alberts / Spies to fight it out for the bench spot depending on whether you looking for speed or power off bench.
20 Apr 2012, 23:23 pm
Cabby im off mate , chat tomorrow , good night everyone
20 Apr 2012, 23:24 pm
@sharks_lover(sharks_lover)-569: which case you resting schmuckaroo.. try italics with the bold font.. it may rest your case even further what a dumb barbarian carnivore you actually are…
20 Apr 2012, 23:26 pm
@sharks_lover(sharks_lover)-565: Expect Alberts to continue on his great form….of missing tackles.He is the most overrated player in super rugby and the stats prove it.
20 Apr 2012, 23:29 pm
Ho ho ho ashatapoopoo – such a jovial fella and fkn humble too.
Ok so now if u got a problem with frying the hoender – what about the hoenders eiers? Is it ok for an immature non-Hunan, unlike your vainglorious self, too eat tge hoenders eiers (not the balls I gave that up for lent)?
20 Apr 2012, 23:29 pm
@Sharks_Lover. I am afraid that I have only managed to catch one Sharks match so far which was last week’s loss. I didn’t like what I saw from most of the players, back and forwards. Good luck for tomorrow. I have a feeling the Chiefs will take it but will loved to be proven wrong.
I cannot offer an opinion on Coetzee; one piss-poor match doesn’t a player make or break imo. I’m not going to have the opportunity to watch tomorrow’s match either which is a shame.
Essentially, I left him out because I have nothing on which to base my view on either way.
I prefer Kolisi to Stander ’cause Stander is a true 7 – a makeshift 6 filling in – whereas Kolisi plays the Stormers’ role of 6 to perfection. Yes people can find fault with this argument but it’s my view and I’m sticking to it; it is not about a like-for-like Brussouw replacement imo, which makes K’s question redundant. It’s about what fits the team dynamic best.
20 Apr 2012, 23:30 pm
@stormerforlife1(stormerforlife1)-573: The poor guy has Plum as a coach. What do you expect.
20 Apr 2012, 23:30 pm
Night Sharks Lover, good luck to the sharks.
20 Apr 2012, 23:32 pm
these arseholes try their luck giggling at some stupefied joke about gobbling like a turkey burnt to a cinder on the braai.. and they come off second best.. then they turn tail and run duck for cover when they find out the f’ing joke is actually on THEM
Jake White little charade gonna burst just like it did in 2006 … useless is as useless does.. watch his quick new broom sweep clean charade at Brumbies come tumbling down into dust just like it did till Eddy the rattle snake turned his fck’d up fortunes around..
20 Apr 2012, 23:34 pm
I’m not talking turkey, I’m talking hoender
20 Apr 2012, 23:34 pm
@ashampoopaloo(joel1yahoo)-570:
Skop, just check your post #547. I was about to compliment you on the loose trio. Same as mine.
Now you’ve just dropped Alberts to the bench! What’s happening?
20 Apr 2012, 23:35 pm
hoenders eiers are a no no just like human eiers they were originally destined to become hoenders or humans depending which eier you wanna chow… only rattle snakes and lizards eat eiers.. no other creature.. except human beings..
20 Apr 2012, 23:37 pm
U a fk up of note, duped by all the dogma, fkn eiers I ask u? U must learn to think for yourself, open your eyes, even better open your mind.
20 Apr 2012, 23:39 pm
@IAAS(I am a stormer)-580: Vermeulen and Alberts in same trio is too much sameness not enough balance.. need some agility and speed along with the power game.. which would ideally come from Coetsee or Kolisi .. and with either Alberts or Spies off bench depending you want power or speed off bench.. Elstatd is also more power and clean out aggression and less agility.. so one has to balance up what you aiming at against a particular opponent.. power or speed or a balance of both…
20 Apr 2012, 23:40 pm

Well done Stormers.
Back on track. Fark a few seasons back, two wins on tour would have been enough.
Depth is the key this season, and come business end when everyone is fit, they can do it.
But……., one step at a time.

Gouge claims leave Bulls open to scorn
Spiro Zavos
April 21, 2012
PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA – APRIL 07, Flip van der Merwe during the 2012 Super Rugby match between Vodacom Bulls and Crusaders from Loftus Versfeld on April 07, 2012 in Pretoria, South Africa. Photo by Lee Warren/Getty Images
‘Gougegate’ … Flip van der Merwe’s injury. Photo: Getty Images
The ”Gougegate” affair is becoming murky. There are too many unanswered questions relating to it that need to be resolved by SANZAR if public confidence in the new process is to be maintained.
Just before half-time in the Bulls-Crusaders match in Pretoria two weekends ago, the Bulls prop Chiliboy Ralepelle complained to the referee, Jaco Peyper, that he had been eye-gouged. It was a noticeably low-key complaint.
Just after half-time the Bulls second-rower Flip van der Merwe also complained he had been eye-gouged. Again, the complaint was low-key. The referee put the incidents on a white card notice to the citing commissioner.
Advertisement: Story continues below
The Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder questioned whether the complaints were a gamesmanship ploy intended to unsettle his side. He insisted that if the complaints were not proven the Bulls should apologise. The Bulls said there would be no apology and pointed to the evidence of the damaged eye of van der Merwe.
The citing commissioner found there was nothing in the video footage that could substantiate the complaint.
SANZAR’s chief executive Greg Peters noted the citing commissioner was bemused that the Bulls “did not follow through with a complaint within the four-hour window after the game”. Peters insisted that if he thought the complaints were made on a “vexatious basis” he would “certainly be asking some questions”.
Well, here are some questions that haven’t been asked and should be answered.
Was the photo published in the South African media of van der Merwe’s torn and bleeding eye actually related to the eye-gouging incident? If he did get this nasty injury to his eye from a gouge, why did the Bulls coach Frans Ludeke say that it was “not a big thing”? And why wasn’t the damaged eye offered as evidence to the citing commissioner?
There was a great deal of discussion on rugby websites that van der Merwe left the field in the first half after a stray boot, from a teammate, made contact with his right eye. This kick damaged his eye in the way the photo revealed, it is claimed.
Why hasn’t SANZAR checked this allegation? If the injury did come earlier in the match, why didn’t the Bulls correct the media reports that the photo evidence proved their complaints? And is it appropriate to make eye-gouging complaints and not provide any evidence to the citing commissioner?
This affair, in my opinion, has raised serious issues about the willingness of the Bulls to do what it takes to win matches.
Jake White has told his young Brumbies side to prepare for a “baptism of fire” when they play the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld tonight. “Nothing untoward, nothing illegal, they just love their rugby, they want to win and will put pressure wherever they can,” he said.
My question is this: is it possible that this determination sometimes leads to unacceptable gamesmanship? If the Bulls franchise and their supporters complain that this is unfair, they need to understand that ”Gougegate” may have exposed the Bulls to this sort of accusation.
Now back to rugby matters. It looks likely that the winner of the Australian conference will be the only Australian side in the six-team finals series. The Brumbies on 24 points would only be sixth on the ladder if it were based solely on points. The Waratahs and Reds are on 21 points, ninth-equal on the table.
The Waratahs should defeat the Rebels in Sydney. They need this victory because, along with the Sharks, they are the only team in the top 10 that have lost four matches. The Reds play the second-ranked Stormers at Suncorp. In their favour is that fact that they have won 17 of the last 18 matches played there.
The Brumbies are facing a rampaging Bulls side. The Bulls have scored the most points, 234, of any side in the tournament. A win for the Brumbies sets them up to win the Australian conference. But this is easier said than done, as are many things in the world of rugby.

In your face priek. Ask anyone here and they will tell you Stormers is my second team. Always support them, just not when they play the Bulls.
You bounce in with your “in your face” attitude as if you had any minute part in the Stormer success.
And how can you throw your stones at other supporters if you are the cancer yourself
Support your team full out, but be humble if you win or lose.
Grow up.

Ashampoola
I see you found your solemate. If everyone is entitled to their opinion, then why are you constantly involved in arguments relating to different opinions?
When it suits you yes. Fact is you have no respect for opinions that differ from yours.
21 Apr 2012, 01:18 am
I know what I know.. and you don’t… its as simple as that… when you know what I know then you be in a position to judge what is worth knowing and what is not…
right now you are in absolutely NO position to know ANYTHING relevant to what is worthwhile knowledge and what is not… because you have NO measuring device to acknowledge or know it by… when or IF you find out what is worth really KNOWING.. then you can be the great judge of reality from illusion.. right now you are FAR from knowing what is reality or what is illusion…
and the difference is I do..
21 Apr 2012, 01:21 am
who’s my ‘sole”mate Kleuter .. or you mean soulmate?
No I don’t have any soul mate.. either here or elsewhere

Good luck in finding a sole or soul mate.

21 Apr 2012, 05:24 am
well done to the stormers but what must be said watching the game and the closeness of the score one would think that is “is that all the stormer got?” I predicted a red hammering and we only got a 10 point beating.
Stormers this is a RED side for the most part of the season have had 10 first choice regulars injured…in this game 7 first choice regulars missing.
21 Apr 2012, 05:34 am
@bryce_in_oz(bryce_in_oz)-636: What is it with this “person” ?(male or female, man or beast)”Tunnel vision” flatter him . ” NO vision” would be a better description.I try not to read his garbage,but unfortunately he dominates the posts .Surely KEO should kick him of the site.
21 Apr 2012, 05:51 am
I wonder what made the perception that Euan McKenzie is a great coach?
Never mind he ruined my wager, his team was trying to take on the stronger Stormers’s forwards up front, fielding a hopeless caricature such as Samo instead of kicking behind the ever out of the position stormers backs
Saying that, Ganie was exposed again, over rated guy who commandeers the decision making from the flyhalf.
Stormers did well to expose the Reds despite intelligent assists from Steve Walsh

In all fairness that was a completely new mid-field for the Stormers, they lost their LO specialist last week as well as their captain JDV and have their first choice captain missing… so the Reds have no excuses…
Stormer’s went to sleep protecting their lead in the 2nd half… Reds left a potential 16 pts on the floor with 3 missed PK’s and a fumbled try (albeit that was a gift Horwill was handed…
21 Apr 2012, 06:35 am
What a ****** performance by the stormers
21 Apr 2012, 06:39 am
Basic left wing play stipulates when you are in open ground hugging touchline you hold ball under left arm leaving your right arm free to fend incoming cover defenders, or better still you make a late switch of the ball to left arm which may put off cover tackler……..should explain this to Rocket Rod Davies………..skill level in Reds backline has declined dramatically
21 Apr 2012, 06:53 am
this optiplay is a two face, who has condoned his better judgment to step off of his high horse once in a blue moon to lower his huge self esteem to converse with this very same tunnel visioned old fool,
two faces like these are what they are, two faced fools, same as this Bryce the little schmyce who can’t realize that the majority content of the discussion here in last couple pages has ALL been for the benefit of that other two face little runt his bosom pal cab the pseudo scientist who’s so g’dam intent to find out exactly THAT, which he dunno.

for those schmucks who STILL cannot see or acknowledge the value of players such as Peter Grant, Dewalt Duvenhage, Juan De Jongh and Gio Aplon.., hope you got a video machine so you can watch that game again.
Grant made the Aplon try along with assists from De Jongh, and scored another himself not to mention deadly accurate place kicking when it matters, and most these schmuckaroos still sing the virtues of Morne Steyn whereas Grant has out played him all season long…
And they only belatedly beginning to realise what I been telling them for 5 whole long years already, Play Peter Grant in the type game where he excels close to the advantage line and Boks would have WON all those tests they lOST under the auspicious talents of FdP and Morne Steyn while suffering under the immaculate guidance of bumchum brudda blue eyed Johnny boy Smit.. Who opted for Butcher when he SHOULD have opted for Grant.
21 Apr 2012, 07:13 am
Stormers
they will not make it till the end they just not good enough
21 Apr 2012, 07:19 am
neither Bulls nor Sharks would have handled Reds in Brisbane, as decimated Reds might be with injuries they were still a pumped up project of rejuvenated energy who came short against the better composed forces of Stormers on the day in their own fortress
So let the disgruntled Sharks and Bulls supporters moan and groan about how lucky Stormers have been, so far taking care of ALL the top gun opposition apart from a narrow miss to Crusaders in Chch the young Stormers outfit have handled and dispatched along the way including Hurricanes Sharks Bulls at home and Highlanders and Reds in their own back yard fortresses.

Just to all other people on here – most Stormers fans are embarresed to hell that Skop (ashampawhoegivesashit) is a Stormers supporter.
I was enjoying reading the banter, but once he comes on I just stop reading. Boring, insulting and repetitive as hell.
Calling this player and that player “1000 times the man”, freaking ridiculous. Some armchair teenager calling insulting a IRB player of the year and world cup winner EVERY single boring posts he writes – ridiculous. blabla interesinting conversation is OVER when he comes on here.
Can’t we ban him or something? Maybe if everyone just ignores him he goes away?
