Klofies, Centurion surge into Nu Power final

Waterkloof and Centurion won their Nu Power semi-final matches against Nelspruit and EG Jansen respectively on Saturday.

Nu Power defending champions Waterkloof eased past Nelspruit to a 49-19 win – a respectable result as the latter upset Monument in the quarter-finals last weekend. Centurion recorded a good comeback win to down EG Jansen 49-35 to make a surprise appearance in the final.

Waterkloof assistant coach Naas Botha managed to watch the Centurion-EG Jansen clash after his team’s win, and he expects an epic battle in the tournament decider.

‘Centurion came back very well as there was a stage in the match when everybody though EG Jansen was running away with it. It was a brilliant schoolboy match,’ Botha told Schoolboy Derby. ‘Centurion have a great pack of fowards this year and their speedy backline is very dynamic, which gives them the ability to score plenty of tries.

‘It will be tough for us in the final as we don’t have the size of their forwards or the pace of their backs. We will need to plan very carefully and play as unit to overcome Centurion.’
