Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate side for the first time this year.
The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which kicks off in the second week of March and concludes in mid-May.

Just a quick comment on the Keo TV vid. I know they’re trying to loosen it up a bit by developing a bit of character for the whole thing. But Lil’Keo hanging over an uncomfortable looking Monty, bubbling with awkward wit and charm reminded me an awful lot of David Brent in The Office.

SA can forget six Super teams
Thursday, 26 April 2012 8.22 a.m.
South African rugby authorities have been given the message that they will not be fielding six teams in the Super Rugby tournament any time soon.
Sanzar chief executive Greg Peters told Die Burger that the South African Rugby Union (SARU) had made no approaches to it to consider a change in the format.
The situation has arisen after the Southern Kings were guaranteed a place in next year’s tournament which means one other South African team would have to drop out.
SARU formed a delegation during a meeting involving its own leadership and the South African Super Rugby franchises in February to argue for an expansion to 16 teams in order to accommodate six South African franchises.
A possible expansion of the competition was to be discussed with Sanzar partners Australia and New Zealand, but SARU asked for more time to build its case.
Peters said: “South Africa asked for a postponement [of the meeting] so that they could look at possible alternatives for the structure.
“That’s the last we’ve heard from them.
“We were informed that the Kings will play in the tournament next year. But a structural change is highly unlikely,” he said.
The existing Super Rugby format, in only its second year, was regarded as successful and it was due to continue until at least December 31 2015.
“It’s too early to consider a change to a format that’s currently successful,” Peter said.
“There’s also not enough time to consider a change in the format for next year. It’s a big discussion to have when the new structure is only 18 months old.”
However, Peters said Sanzar would listen to any ‘realistic and constructive’ plans South Africa had.
