Lions bolstered by prop returns
30 Apr 2012
Lions props JC Janse van Rensburg and CJ van der Linde were declared fit to join the team on their Super Rugby tour to Australasia.
The front-row duo have been sidelined with injuries since the early rounds of the tournament. The big surprise is the quick recovery of Janse van Rensburg, who was expected to miss the rest of the campaign because of a toe injury.
Flank Jaco Kriel is the only member of the 26-man squad who hasn’t played a Super Rugby game this season.
The Lions face the Chiefs, Blues, Reds and Force during a tough tour to New Zealand and Australia over the next four weeks.
Lions touring squad: Martin Bezuidenhout, Ruan Botha, Patric Cilliers, Andries Coetzee, Ruaan Combrinck, Ross Cronje, Cobus Grobbelaar, Grant Hattingh, Alwyn Hollenbach, JC Janse van Rensburg, Elton Jantjies, James Kamana, Michael Killian, Jaco Kriel, Doppies le Roux, Lionel Mapoe, Tian Meyer, Derek Minnie, Caylib Oosthuizen, Hendrik Roodt, Joshua Strauss, Jaco Taute, CJ van der Linde, Franco van der Merwe, Deon van Rensburg, Callie Visagie.

They don’t have a weak scrum as such

Where is Wickus Van Heerden? Franco is calling the shots in that forward pack and it’s not working out. Wickus was only concussed, right?
First game Chiefs…… eish.

JC Janse van Rensburg one of the unluckiest players not to be part of Heyneke’s Bok call-ups.
A lot better then say, Caylib Oosthuizen, Dale Chadwick, Frik Kirsten, Werner Kruger, Wicus Blaauw… and I’d argue a few others as well.
Nice to see him fit. But Tuna is right, they need Wikus van Heerden back, and soon. Sure he’s old, but even at his old age he is one of the vital members of the Lions forward pack. Michael Rhodes being missed as well.

Has anyone got news on what is happening with Wickus van Heerden?
Got concussion and should have been playing 4 weeks ago. Were there more damaged caused?
All the best for the lions, it cant get any worst, so they must just play basic rugby.
ie: catch the ball firstly, keep possession, kick only to gain territory, hit the rucks like theu did in last years cc semi and final, and then tackle for your life. This should not be difficult
Have your say
