Brumbies lose Lealiifano
6 May 2012
Brumbies flyhalf Chirstian Lealiifano will miss the rest of the Super Rugby campaign because of a broken ankle.
Lealiifano picked up the serious injury at the end of the Brumbies’ 23-6 win over the Waratahs in Canberra on Saturday, during which he kicked three penalties and two conversions. The No 10′s foot got stuck under a Waratahs player, and an awkward fall caused the fracture.
The Brumbies lead the Australian conference with 35 log points, but they will now be without two of their preferred flyhalves. Matt Toomua (anterior cruciate ligament) is sidelined after picking up his injury against the Sharks in March.

You could tell as soon as he went down that he wasn’t getting back up.
Extremely disappointing, as Lealifano has been the form Aus flyhalf this season, and was looking set for a Wallabies call-up.
Will be interesting to see where White and Larkham go from here.
On one hand they have Robbie Coleman, a 2010 IRB U20 player of the year nominee and a talented 10 and 12, but who has been training primarily as a fullback this season.
On the other they have Zac Holmes, a young reliable goalkicking flyhalf, but who only has about 30 minutes of Super Rugby to his name thus far.
Have your say
