Tiaan to tackle Tahs
16 May 2012
The more robust Tiaan Liebenberg has been preferred to start against the Waratahs while Canadian Jebb Sinclair is promoted to the Stormers frontline because of injuries.
Liebenberg displaces Deon Fourie in the starting side, while Sinclair comes in for the injured Nizaam Carr. Western Province loose forward Don Armand is brought into the squad for Saturday’s game against the Waratahs, and so will miss the Vodacom Cup final against Griquas on Friday.
Meanwhile, coach Allister Coetzee will continue to search for an experienced player to cover the No 8 position.
Coetzee admitted that he had been in touch with Saracens loose forward Ernst Joubert as well as a few other players from overseas, but nothing has been confirmed as yet. Most players are locked into contracts and won’t be risked in the brutally physical environment of the Super Rugby competition.
Until Coetzee finds another experienced No 8 alternative, Siya Kolisi will provide cover in the position.
Stormers – 15 Joe Pietersen, 14 Gio Aplon, 13 Juan de Jongh, 12 Jean de Villiers (c), 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Peter Grant, 9 Dewaldt Duvenage, 8 Jebb Sinclair, 7 Rynhardt Elstadt, 6 Siya Kolisi, 5 Andries Bekker, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Brok Harris, 2 Tiaan Liebenberg, 1 Steven Kitshoff.
Subs: 16 Deon Fourie, 17 Frans Malherbe, 18 De Kock Steenkamp, 19 Don Armand, 20 Louis Schreuder, 21 Burton Francis, 22 Gerhard van den Heever.

I see on another web site there’s an article about the Stormers officially hunting Ernst Joubert to play for them over the next few games.
He’s a decent player and hopefully should slot in well.
Any further news on that front from the KEO newshounds?

@greatest13gerber(greatest13gerber)-4: Yes agreed. Stormers should have the advantage upfront seeing that Polauto-nau is out injured.

Good team. Really hoping they get some sort of attacking synergy (also called scoring tries) … Just dunno what the flippin problem is… wanna pin it on that hopeless fleckie…. but me thinks this defensive system they re employing , magnifique as it is, just does not ‘encourage’ try scoring or attacking play… the players have ability… has to be the system then….. I mean it s been like this for longer than just this season….

The Stormer’s locks must be over the moon that they do not have to negotiate the erratic throwing into the lineouts by Deon (Spraygun) Fourie during this match.

A strong side – should account for the Tahs in a low scoring game.

good side… pleased tiaan is back… definitely a better scrummager and more accurate with the lineouts…
also pleased to see bekker in the lineup… really thought he may miss this one…
cool stuff…
but mustn’t take the Tahs lightly…

The longer the seaon goes on the more this Stormers side look like an accident waiting to happen yet they really have some serious ball players in there.

Our 2′s are being moulded around retreaded 6′s for some time now. Think of Derick Kuun! Remember him?
