Koen, De Villiers join Bok management
24 May 2012
Louis Koen and Pieter de Villiers were officially added to the Springbok management on Thursday.
Their appointments were approved by Saru’s Exco (Executive Council), which means the duo will join the Boks at their training camp in Durban on Sunday. Former Bok flyhalf Koen will take over as the team’s kicking consultant, while former France prop De Villiers will be the scrum specialist.
Head coach Heyneke Meyer lauded the latest additions to his management.
‘They bring a wealth of knowledge in their specialist areas of kicking and scrumming, but also know and understand the rigours of Test rugby, having played at the highest level,’ said Meyer. ‘Collectively they have been involved in a number of World Cups and this kind of experience is something that will always be invaluable at Test level.’

24 May 2012, 17:19 pm
I’m relieved to see after reading the first few lines that it is the Pieter De Villiers who played front row for France and not the Pieter De Villiers who played the fool for South Africa.

hehe,I also thought it was Snorman they referred to

@Fern is not a stud,he is merely no19(Fern)-1: Louis Skoen had at least one Super 12 season with the Bulls. Probably around 2001 or 2002.

@ShaunSwindon(Karma-zaf)-5: I know Jannie is a bit rubbish, but really, CJ, on current (or ;last two years) form?
24 May 2012, 18:39 pm
@ShaunSwindon(Karma-zaf)-5: Really like the look of that team especially if Du Preez is in some kind of form.

@SpiesIsWorthless(SpiesIsWorthless)-11:
Stander rather than Marcel as 6 backup to Brussow, as Marcel is a 7. However I can’t se Marcel making the starting 22 ahead of Deysel or Kanko.
24 May 2012, 19:58 pm
@David(David)-13: Would you have those players ahead of him? Deysel and Kanko can’t even make the Sharks squad
24 May 2012, 20:19 pm
Louis Koen was the absolute worst Bok fly half of all time.. and he trots out as Meyer’s kicking guru
seriously Louis Koen?
I sometimes wonder if this Heyneke Meyer is all as cracked up as some people make him out to be.
24 May 2012, 20:32 pm
@fitzella(fritz ellenbogen)-15: Koen might have been rubbish, but he was a good kicker and thats what he is there for.
24 May 2012, 20:34 pm
@ShaunSwindon(Karma-zaf)-5: I think it would be better to have your v/c in the pack if the captain is in the backline
24 May 2012, 21:00 pm
@fitzella(fritz ellenbogen)-15: Have you thought about what his credentials may actually be??
How about this??
He is the kicking coach for WP
Who is the most accurate SA kicker (last season and this)?>
That’s right.
24 May 2012, 21:30 pm
Poor fuckadilly.
If he had half a brain he would be dangerous.

@ShaunSwindon(Karma-zaf)-2: They are bringing in Pieter De Villiers. You got it wrong, our former bok coaches name is Peter De Villiers.
25 May 2012, 07:11 am
Great work Keo getting everyone anxious thinking its Peter De Villiers.
25 May 2012, 07:12 am
@stormersboy(stormersboy)-3: His name is Peter De Villiers.
25 May 2012, 07:17 am
Great appointments. Louis Koen is a kicking guru and Pieter De Villiers anchored many solid scrums for France. Will be interesting to see what they can do with this current crop of players.
25 May 2012, 07:24 am
THis headline almost gave me a heart attack!!!
25 May 2012, 07:27 am
@ShaunSwindon(Karma-zaf)-5: Too white. Chilli will be #2 hooker..
25 May 2012, 07:30 am
@fitzella(fritz ellenbogen)-15:
SA has never lost a game to Argentina… And thanks to Koen we still have that record. He kicked a penalty from the touchline on the 80th minute… SA should always thank him for that and he is surely a more educated and experienced kicking coach than Percy!
25 May 2012, 07:34 am
@David(David)-13: in Stander, Kolisi and Coetzee we have 3 very exciting young flanks, all of whom will likely end up playing openside more often than not. I rate them all, but Coetzee has been arguably the best loosie in SA this year. His tackle count is outrageous and he carries the ball brilliantly. I would definitely have him in the squad, although realistically Brussouw will start in the 6 jersey which is hardly a bad thing! Personally I’d love to see Alberts back to his best and at 8, with Coetzee and Brussouw on the flanks. However it’s probably safe to write Spies’ name down right now. Let’s just hope Meyer can get the best out of him.
25 May 2012, 07:42 am
@sonofgun(sonofgun)-31: Yes all three are very good. I think Stander and Kolisi are more suited to 6 and 8. Coetzee is the tallest out of the 3 of them so he can fill in at 7 and provide a lineout option.
Future Bok trio
6. Stander
7. Coetzee
8. Kolisi
25 May 2012, 07:43 am
Really happy with Pieter de Villiers in the mix. Listening to his comments on Supersport whenever he was roped in, really shows the man knows his rugby, and with him having plied his trade in the front-row cauldron that is European rugby, he can definitely add a lot of value to the Bok scrum.
25 May 2012, 07:47 am
@sonofgun(sonofgun)-31: I still think Kolisi was unlucky not to make the 42 man squad. He has rarely had a bad game this season. The only game i can remember him being quiet was against the Crusaders.
25 May 2012, 07:53 am
@ShaunSwindon(Karma-zaf)-5: did rynhardt elstadt make the 42 man squad?
25 May 2012, 07:56 am
@Fern is not a stud,he is merely no19(Fern)-21: Would a person who isn’t HIV postive use anti-retrovirals? Much less advertise them? It’s terribly honourable of you girls to fight for Lambie in this manner. But if he wants to advertise a product that will produce a few giggles, you lot, just like him, should take what comes with it. Pump-di di pump pump – pump pump. (Took old Bissie 3 weeks to learn those lines…)
25 May 2012, 08:08 am
@Sasuke(Sasuke)-34: problem is that even Coetzee can’t be more than 1.88m, and he’s not much of a lineout forward for the sharks. I reckon those 3 would be dynamic, but you’d definitely be short on bulk and height. I don’t think any of them is over 105kg. You’re right that Kolisi could hardly have done more and is unlucky. Right now I doubt he’d make the Test 22, and all of the loosies selected are good players, so I’m not as outraged as some. But despite being a sharks fan, I reckon kolisi’s future holds more bok caps than deysel’s or daniel’s, and it’s been a long time since SA produced a true international-quality black loose forward, so I’d have included him for the sake of the experience.
25 May 2012, 08:18 am
@sonofgun(sonofgun)-37: Yes but his time will come. Yes agreed it is tough breaking into loose forward department at test level for the Boks.
25 May 2012, 08:20 am
phew, i was worried pieter had been employed as media liaison officer….
but it is the other one as scrum coach!
25 May 2012, 08:23 am
@sonofgun(sonofgun)-37: Marcel Coetzee 1.91 m and 106 Kg.
25 May 2012, 08:24 am
@Sasuke(Sasuke)-40: CJ Stander 1.88 m and 108 kg
25 May 2012, 08:25 am
@Sasuke(Sasuke)-41: Siya Kolisi 1.87 m and 101 kg
25 May 2012, 08:28 am
@Sasuke(Sasuke)-35:

he should have.
