Boishaai last achieved victory over Grey in 2000, when they triumphed 17-10. They nearly ended that losing streak last year, but they relinquished a second-half lead and had to settle for a 15-15 draw.

They finally broke their winless run against the schoolboys from Bloemfontein at home on Saturday afternoon, recording 10-point win thanks to a strong start after the break.

Boishaai held on to 16-6 half-time lead, and turned that into a 22-point advantage after lock Sebastiaan Ferriera (who will feature for WP at the U18 Craven Week in July) grabbed a brace in quick succession.

Grey Bloem cut the deficit to 10 as they hit back with tries through fullback EW Viljoen and hooker Corniel Els. However, the hosts managed to restrict the visitors’ late momentum to hold on for a rare victory.
