The barbarians were onto a hiding to nothing with the team they played and they dually got a hiding.I wonder how many of the poms team that started will start against the boks.If HM gets his team right i do not see the poms giving the boks a hard time.

BTW did anyone see Beasts lift in the opening vs Stormers – that was &%$&%%** incredible. Bresler overextended and fell head over heels backwards with Beasty hanging onto his shorts so much so that the back of Breslers head smacked Beast in the mid back – his legs were vertical!!! And Beast held him up by his shorts like he was powerlifting and put him back down safe!! What a dude man – that takes serious strength. Beast is in my starting lineup no matter what. Probably one of my most admired players. Talk about humble – there he is right there. Awesome aweseome guy and offocially a Saffa now – gotta love him.

if the boks show the usual intensity and physicality then the differrence will be the sh pace which our players are acustomed to vs the nh slow poke routine.

most of the bok team to be picked have played together before and collectively probably have far more cps than this ‘established’ and ‘settled’ engalnd team.

i expect the boks will win this series.

Some here are getting irrational about that game
Reality is the Poms needed a warm up Test before departure for their tour but most suitable players from France were not available, same as players from Osprey, Leinster, Queen’s and Leicester, it goes without saying that squad players from Wales and Ireland would not be made available either.
Looking at the reserve list I failed to recognise one name!

No one has mentioned yet that this may have been a rubbish Baabaas team, but it was far from being the best England team. Harlequinns and Leicester who were comfortably the 2 best teams in the premiership, were contesting the final on Saturday and so none of their players were considered for selection. Between them they are providing 18 players for the touring party to South Africa.
It a shame how the Barbarians has dropped off so much. Perhaps they should fill it with the best players from developing and less privileged nations rather then old hasbeens with zero commitment and passion?

I think Barbarians rugby’s time has passed when the amateur era ended.

Today, individual brilliance plays second fiddle to the structure that a team plays with, and even if you pick the 15 best players in the world, after 1 week’s practice they won’t be as good as any Tier 1 team that plays within an established structure and defensive system.

This isn’t Sevens tiddlywinks, chaps. This is the 15-man code.

Sonny Bill in a Barbarians shirt can run ”at the shoulders” of his opposing player as much as he likes, but if the Barbarians are playing a decent, established opposition team, they’re gonna get klapped.

I remember the last time they came out here there was also a lot of cautioning about an “unknown England” that should not be underestimated. And we went and put almost 60 points past them in Bloem. They’re rubbish. The Lions would give them a run.

That was the shittest Barbarians team I have ever seen. Anything less than 50 points would have been a dismal failure by England. Can’t wait for them to come back down with a bump when we pummel them in the first test. Which we will.

I just think England ran riot today and did not get a decent run out against a waste of time team.

Clive Woodward is far from being influential in England rugby circles, but the points he made in today’s sunday times indicate an EXPECTATION from the English public. England will be coming here to win, which does not mean they will, but if Boks go down in the first test, odds are, we will not cope with the following pressure.

Naas Botha used to talk about the armwrestling nature of a first test win essential to win a test series, hook or by crook. If they take the 1st the most humiliating experience could be awaiting us.

Saying that, it would be a national disaster of England win this series. The Boks MUST take this.

Have to say I dont really rate this England team, there are no baby-eaters in the forwards like feared England teams of the past, maybe the props who destroyed Ireland, and their back-line certainly wont be troubling us. They’re a bunch of journeymen imo but playing well as a team- I predict 3 comfortable wins for the Bokke.

We’ll have to live with Spies at 8 until Vermuelean comes back who Meyer rates. If the likes of Oliver and Side Show Bob are anywhere near the 15 let alone the 22 then questions will be asked of Meyer in this early juncture. Still think Du Preez might have a role to play but leaning more towards Pienaar with Hougaard at least adding some danger on the wing.
