Steyn back in the Tank
28 May 2012
Frans Steyn has signed a three-year contract with the Sharks.
The Springbok back left the Sharks in 2009 to join Racing Metro on a two-and-a-half year deal and won 61 caps for the French club. Steyn recently expressed his desire to return to South Africa and the Sharks were always likely to get his signature.
Steyn will officially join the union on 1 July, but an IRB ruling stipulating that any player registered after 1 April is ineligible for the play-offs means that Steyn would watch from the stands should the Sharks progress to that stage of the tournament.
‘It is great to have him back with us as we did miss him,’ said Sharks coach John Plumtree. ‘He was definitely an influential player when he left and he will again be that, so it is fantastic to have him with the Sharks.’
Steyn has played 47 Tests for the Springboks and is expected to wear the No 12 jersey in the three-Test series against England in June.

Fulfil your pleasure. Live a thousand years,
I shall not find myself so apt to die:
No place will please me so, no mean of death,
As here by Kings Park, and by you cut off,

Strange that Frans didn’t go back to the Metropolis of Bloemfontein like Strauss did after 2010. Strauss must be kicking himself.

Good news for the Sharks and Bok rugby. He will get back into southern hemisphere condition pretty quickly.
29 May 2012, 05:08 am
I see skopshyte is again changing nicks faster than you can say “the Sharks whupped the Stormers”…
*whataplonker*
29 May 2012, 05:11 am
Steyn will slot into 12 and Tim Whitehead will play from 13. Great to have Jordaan on the bench as a potent attacking weapon.
Balance of power is again shifting back to the Sharks it seems…
29 May 2012, 05:57 am
You Shark supporters are the most pathetic bunch of losers ever to have the displeasure of supporting a rugby team. You are the sorest most distasteful schmucks when you lose. You are by far and away the most sickeningly graceless winners among South African rugby fans. Absolutely disgraceful how you carry on.
As much as the impotent Stormers fans pretend to be ‘good losers’ as least they try to behave with some dignity. Not a single Sharks fan has acted with anything even resembling grace or dignity since Saturday night. One has to wonder how valueless and empty of tangible accomplishment your lives are to demonstrate such ‘personal achievement’ in the accomplishment of 22 other men playing a game to which you have contributed exactly nothing. No one here needs to insult, embarrass or belittle you sorry sad sacks. You do that all by yourselves.
This HeavensGame fool is such a hypocrite. He disappears in a snarling, spitting rage of bad sportsmanship whenever the Sharks lose. Just like the rest of shallow Sharks fair-weather fans. Then have the temerity to question why Stormers fans don’t avail themselves to your sickening, childish mocking? Even though many of them in fact do?
This Kaksieok, Rangerman and Puma roundly condemn all Stormers fans on this thread as being upset that Frans Steyns has returned to Durban without having read through the thread to see the many that have posted right here it is a good thing. Then they pretend to be ‘friends’ with the self-same Stormers fans they have insultingly dismissed. Have you people no bounds of shame?
This BananaRiot fool says he doesn’t need HeavensGame to hold his hand because he is his own one-man Sharks army. Well, sonny boy, where the hell have you been when the Sharks were doing badly? You’ve pitched up just in time to grab all the glory like the archetypical fairweather Sharks fan.
You mock the Stormers fans but you Sharks fans are the most sycophantic (look it up) or should that be sicko-fantics there are in the world of sports?
29 May 2012, 05:58 am
The Sharks fans were saying before the game that the Stormers fans would be moaning about the ref. Yet every Sharks fan is going on and on about the ref – despite the fact that they won. Talk about sore losers. They berate any Stormer fan for even suggesting there are extenuating circumstances, yet they continue to make excuses for their win. Unbelievable!
Sharks are such dishonest supporters that they say their stadium is sold out but empty seats were clearly visible all over the place and the SSport broadcast that only 27 000 people attended the match. Many who were Stormers fans. When did they decrease the holding capacity of the stadium? Pathetic. And dishonest! We won’t even go to the semi-final against the Cheetahs a couple of years ago which had 20 000 empty seats.
These Stormers fans need to man-up and call a spade a fuckingshovel and tell these arrogant, adolescent, vicarious, fairweather Sharks fans exactly where to get off the bus.
29 May 2012, 05:59 am
How long before John Plumtree starts playing Frans Steyn all over the place? And stuffing up his career and headspace all over again. Plumtree thinks he is James Bond and Once is Not Enough. What are the odds on Steyn playing every position in the backline before the year is out?
How long before the Sharks players who have served well and got the team into the play-offs are dismissed by Plumtree as he shifts Steyn from pillar to post?
How long before the hypocritical Sharks fans start booing Frans Steyn again? Much like Nat voters, no Sharks fan even acknowledge that Frans Steyn was booed at KingsPark, let alone admits to doing the booing. How many missed drop goals in must-win matches will the pathetic Sharks fans gift Frans Steyn before they start booing him?
Please everyone mark these words.
29 May 2012, 06:00 am
I’d love to hear the excuses once the fatboy runs and true to form disappoints. The Sharks will now go on to win the S15, like they did when Steyn was there a couple of years ago, like they dominated the CC for the last 20 odd years. They make it so easy!
29 May 2012, 06:06 am
Frans Steyn, the prodigal son, who took the money and scrammed laugh out farking loud. Now he’s here, to bestow his greatness on a bunch of under achieving sods. Let’s see how much further he can drag the banana splits into oblivion!
29 May 2012, 06:48 am
@FckU2(FckU2)-226: Puma, Sharks lover and Co even fight each other mate. Just scroll back a bit: “I knew Fransie was coming to the Sharks first” “No, I did” – Ok bruvva we both did – yayyyyyy Sharks. It’s all very wet, wimpish and flat to be honest. Old Puma for example reckons he would have Lambie as his 10 and 15 – like wow uber awesome yippy? When old men try and recapture their youth like this, it is sad – very sad (Colostomy bag sad……) I still want to know what their personalised number plates say…..”Rock star” “Big Boy” Big Daddy” “Sharks1″ etc. What I don’t get (much like you) is why the Stormer folk on here seem to suck it up? (Unless of course, they are just doing what most decent people would do; Humoring the aged?)
This is how I humor the aged: What’s black and tan and looks good on a Shark’s fan? A Rottweiler.
29 May 2012, 06:53 am
@FckU2(FckU2)-227: At least if they boo him now, there will only be 50 people in the stadium who will play an active part in it……..The excuse for last weekends poor turnout was: “The Royal Show” was on at the same time…..(I swear half of these so-called Sharks fans wouldn’t know a rolling maul from a shopping mall from a volleyball, but I guess that’s the result of having so little history and rugby culture to fall back on?)
29 May 2012, 07:02 am
should be wearing blue
29 May 2012, 07:04 am
Nou wat nou. Hoekom is julle Stormpies so kwaad?

@The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food(The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food)-230:
They are a sorry bunch aren’t they. I think you’re right about their number plates too. I wonder if the Stormers fans even see through these Sharks fans ‘friends’. However, you could be right about humoring the elderly. Maybe they see it as their good deed for the day.
@The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food(The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food)-231:
The Royal Show? Good on them showing respects to old Zwelithini Zulu, I guess.
Oh, not that Royal Family? The British Royal Family?
Was Wills there? Or maybe Harry? Surely the agricultural Princess Anne would have been there to run her hands over the champion bull?
Well, at least it proves how low rugby is on their list of priorities.
Keep up your work PedigreeChum. I do not have enough time to be here consistently. But will be back.
Till next time.

bombs that are kicked so high they come down with ice on them.BOOM!
80m clearance kicks.BOOM!
29 May 2012, 07:25 am
@RiotBananas(Dawnpre)-233: Most of the time I will ‘suck it up and take it’ from Bulls fans, Cheetahs fans, Lions fans,Griquas fans, Eastern Province fans – because unlike the Sharks these fans have a rugby culture and history rich in it’s significance. The Sharks don’t have any of this to fall back on – which is why their fans always sound so desperate to impress. Who knows, in about 100 years the Sharks might get the ‘respect’ their fans think they deserve……just a pity the Hefner twins (Puma and Hor-moan) and their Playmates of the month (HG, You, and the library monitor Riotbananas) won’t be around to see it.

Wow – a lot of hate on this thread today

@JamesNkomo(JamesNkomo)-236:
Hehehe. Agree! They should try wearing an away kit at Newlands – I never experienced such anamosity in my life – worst than apartheid. Dislike supporters that think they own shares in a Union and feel they need to degrade opposition. What do you get when you team wins? – A cheque in your postbox the next morning, congratualting you for your team’s victory. Some supporters take the game too seriously. Sport is meant for entertainement! Grow up guys, there’s more improtant things in life to whinge about….
29 May 2012, 07:58 am
Hyperbole HG still at it jir is al amper volgende naweek.
Good to have F. Steyn back, with Morne likely to play at 10 we’re going to need a 12 who’s willing to express himself, not to mention those 50 meter penalties.
29 May 2012, 07:59 am
Sunday morning a lot of stormers supporters were doing a couple of crocodile death rolls with their duvets firmly clutched between their legs.
It is not a bad dream ladies, your team got owned and have to face a filthy feeling bulls side.
29 May 2012, 08:04 am
@Fern is not a stud,he is merely no19(Fern)-245: Do you actually support any one rugby team or are you just anti-WP, what? Do you live in one of those back water inland towns where there is more potholes than toilets and thus hate us Capies who live in a working municipality?

@TrueBok(TrueBok)-243:
There’s a famous sport saying, dunno if it’s a football one which goes – ‘It’s not about life or death, it’s bigger than that.’
Or something like that

Ye and Sharks supporters gooi braai’s on Sunday mornings when their team has lost right.
Of course it’s disappointing to lose, the Bulls just felt it on the weekend and a couple of weeks before that the Saders got owned by the Rebels.
So far I haven’t heard about anybody slitting their wrists over it.
29 May 2012, 08:10 am
Backdoorboy,Sharks supporter all the way.Saturday was the beginning of the end for the stormers and the bulls are going to get a taste aswell.
29 May 2012, 08:13 am
@wpstormerbok(wpstormerbok)-247:
Hehehehehe. Yes, I heard that one before!
But please let’s not mention football – where players get killed for scoring own goals in World Cups, constant racial abuse of players in Europe by fans and to top it off, Blatter’s ‘handshake’ suggestion to resolve this…
Rugby still has a long way to hopefully not go, to get where football is…
