interesting you think he lost us the wc because of honiball. my personal opinion is rather that we lost it because of paulse. it ws never mallet’s intention to play paulse, mostly out of fear about his size rather than fear about his colour, and that with the loss to oz it turned into a nothing to lose, as well as a transformational opportunity to give him a game against the ab’s.

the way he outran most the entire ab team, chipping ahead twice while doing so and then beating cullen (of all players) to regather and dot down was sensational and in a small way probably his answer to mallet, for all the reasons he needed to.

yes honiball played well enough and percy came good with some drops but i’m convinced paulse more than honiball would have been the deciding factor for us had he been played in the oz game as i’m sure if ever there was a try to be scored in that game it would’ve come from him.

To be honest, the scoreline flattered the Stormers. If the Sharks kept their foot on the accelerator, it could easily have been a half century. On the day the Sharks were just way better.

you got 3 lucky breaks from 3 lucky kicks that bounced into the wrong hands and a couple missed line outs and penalties put you into our half where the lack of decent defense mechanism gave you tries against run of play..

Thats IT.. rest of the game you were scrambling in defense.. all 3 of your tries came from turnaround kicks or turnovers from either high bombs from deep in your territory or from turnover on the deck in the case of the Mvovo try

First 15 – 20 minutes was Stormers in your 22.. first 15 minutes of 2nd half was all Stormers on your try line.. and last 20 minutes was all Stormers with Sharks scrambling in defense.

In spite of our weak resolve and our lack of fortitude through a barrage of injury wracked players it boiled down to 3 lucky break away tries to 2…

Your tight 5 dominated and your set pieces were superior.. your back row dominated because we were playing under duress and down to last line of resistance in terms of played out personnel.. but in spite of all of this.. Stormers dropped 2 tries on your try line early 2nd half and scored twice through lapses in your own back line momentum later on..

Your lucky bounce tries came from nothing in first half.. first one was definitely against run of play and so was the Mvovo turnover try. your 2nd try was through build up phases after we dropped line outs and you raked long kicks through Michalak into our territory… that was when you had our number.. only through late in first half..

It was no walkover victory as much as it seemed the case .. but it was a deserved one .. Sharks had far more motivation and adrenalin through the entire showsown .. and it showed when the ball bounced kindly they pounced with upbeat momentum.
