SA schoolboy preview (2 June)

Schoolboy Derby looks at Saturday’s top 1st XV games from around the country.


While the top powers up north are all busy with Craven Week preparations and commitments, the Western Cape scene is still in full swing.

The big clashes will see Wynberg host Paul Roos, while SACS travel to Rondebosch. Paarl Boys’ and Paarl Gym will be expected to achieve victories against Bishops and Oakdale respectively.

The Boland Landbou-Drostdy clash is also set to be an exciting encounter.

While Grey PE and Dale will be in the limelight, there are two other big matches in the region this weekend.

Framesby tackle Marlow, while St Andrew’s and Queen’s will be desperate to returning to winning ways when they clash.

Kearsney host Maritzburg College in the highlight match out on the east side. Kearsney have been in good form recently, while Maritzburg College come off a big win last weekend.

DHS will want to get over their recent defeat against Glenwood with victory against Hilton, while Michaelhouse face Northwood.

With the likes of Grey Bloem and Affies taking a break until late July, KES and Monument will still be on show. They take on Pretoria Boys’ and Helpmekaar respectively.

Jeppe and St Stithians will also duel, while Florida take on Marais Viljoen following their big win over Monnas last weekend.
