McAlister boots Toulouse to final
3 Jun 2012
Luke McAlister kicked 18 points as Toulouse beat Castres 24-15 in the Top 14 semi-final.
McAlister’s six penalties, including two from inside his half, was the bedrock upon which Toulouse’s success was built. With neither side able to break down the other’s defence, Toulouse exhibited superior composure to progress to the final. Lionel Beauxis added another six points with the boot, including a drop goal.
The win is also notable given that Toulouse were reduced to 13 men just before half-time, Florian Fritz being shown a yellow card for a high tackle in the 32nd minute, while Timoci Matanavou was sent to the bin five minutes later for cynical offside.
They will face the winner of the second semi-final between Clermont and Toulon, which takes place on Sunday.

Two kinds of Dragons post here on Keo.comedy;
-There is the level headed, ballanced, rational, fair minded International Poster.
and there are.
-The South Africans. (with few rare exceptions).

@greatest13gerber(greatest13gerber)-3:
Luke has had some horrific injuries over the years.
His face has basically been rebuilt.
In the amatuer era, he would have retired 5 yrs ago.

One wonders, had he hung around after missing selection for the initial AB squad for the Tri Nations, that he may have had the back up job and played in the grand final of the RWC with all the flyhalves falling over. He left on a sour note and the rest is history. In saying that, I would gladly take him back for the Blues and also Nick Evans….. Xavier Rush, Sam Tuitupou, Mils Muliaina, Saimone Taimoepeau, Troy Flavell, Mose Tuialii, Isa Nacewa, Rupeni Caucaunibuca, Doug Howlett, retired Carlos Spencer, Orene Aii etc, sorry, just having a blues flashback to yesteryears.

Andrew Mehrtens is still on contract for a French second-division side, at the ripe old age of 39 — only two years older than big bad Brad Thorn, who is still a cup-winning first-division player at 37. Of course, there’s also the ageless Tana Umaga…
Have your say
