New Zealand named three uncapped players in their run-on side to face Ireland at Eden Park on Saturday.
Wing Julian Savea, scrumhalf Aaron Smith and lock Brodie Retallick will debut. Smith beats the out of form Piri Weepu to the No 9 shirt, with the Blues man on the bench. He’ll be joined there by Ali Williams, who was also a contentious inclusion given his indifferent Super Rugby form. However, there is no place in the match 22 for midfielder Ma’a Nonu.
Keven Mealamu has failed to recover from a calf injury, so Andrew Hore starts with Hika Elliot providing hooker cover on the bench. In the back row Victor Vito edges out Adam Thomson.
All Blacks – 15 Israel Dagg, 14 Zac Guildford, 13 Conrad Smith, 12 Sonny Bill Williams, 11 Julian Savea, 10 Dan Carter, 9 Aaron Smith, 8 Kieran Read, 7 Richie McCaw (c), 6 Victor Vito, 5 Sam Whitelock, 4 Brodie Retallick, 3 Owen Franks, 2 Andrew Hore, 1 Tony Woodcock.
Subs: 16 Hika Elliot, 17 Ben Franks, 18 Ali Williams, 19 Adam Thomson, 20 Piri Weepu, 21 Aaron Cruden, 22 Ben Smith.
