Gatland joins Wales in Australia
15 Jun 2012
Warren Gatland has flown to Melbourne from New Zealand to help his troops ahead of their second Test against the Wallabies.
Regular head coach Gatland decided to join his team earlier than expected as he was given time off after a freak window cleaning accident, which saw him injure both feet. This is the first time he will be part of the Welsh squad since they grabbed the Grand Slam during this year’s Six Nations.
Interim coach Robbie Howley will still remain in charge during the tour, but he said Gatland’s input will help the team’s cause.
Howley told reporters: ‘It’s great to have the opportunity to have one of the best coaches in world rugby alongside you in a supportive role.’
