Canes star crocked

Hurricanes scrumhalf TJ Perenara has broken his ankle and will be out of action for at least four months.

Perenara sustained the injury in a ‘friendly’ match against the Reds on Friday. He is expected to undergo surgery and be sidelined for between four and six months.

This means that he will be out for the rest of the Hurricanes’ campaign and will not be available to the All Blacks until 2013.

Perenara injured his ankle in the act of scoring a try in the 78th minute. The Hurricanes beat the Reds 36-7.

This will really affect the Hurricanes chances of making the playoffs – the lad is brilliant and adds a lot the the Canes continuity.

Poor guy – real talent for the future though…
