Brawling Beale set for recall
18 Jun 2012
Kurtley Beale is expected to be named as the Wallabies’ starting fullback despite the assault charge hanging over his head.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, as long as Beale can prove his fitness he will be selected to start against Wales. Beale’s comeback will see Adam Ashley-Cooper shifting to the wing and Cooper Vuna dropping out of the starting team.
On Saturday, the Australian Rugby Union was informed by police that Beale had been charged with assault following an alleged scuffle at a Brisbane hotel. The ARU has halted its disciplinary process until the police matter is resolved.
In the mean time, he remains available for the Wallabies and the Rebels.
‘It will be good to have a bloke of his class back in the mix. He adds a lot of excitement to the group, a lot of finish. He is also good under the ball, which is an element we have to improve on,’ said Deans.
