@whatever(whatever)-104: Yes will heed your advice regarding derogatory terms, agree lilly white and brown coconut are one in the same. As for Mr Waldrom, he is Maori. By saying one is Maori doesn't mean you automatically forget your other heritage. I will never forget my Pakeha grandfather, but at the end of the day I consider myself Maori and a New Zealander.

@Te Rangatira(Te Rangatira)-103: Yeah I understand the whole family thing and what a Moari is, but just because he may get selected as a Maori due to some small % bloodline does that mean he throws away his other % (European) side? Unfortunately the term "lilly white" is just as derogatory as "brown coconut". Both have a colour and both have a plant/fruit/flower in the term. Think about it next time!

@whatever(whatever)-101: Being Maori has nothing to do with skin colour, it has more to do with genealogy (whakapapa), beliefs (tikanga), and cultural upbringing. Thomas Waldrom is Maori because of his whakapapa, his brother played for Nz Maori. As for the expression lilly white, I didn't use it to denote skin colour. but to emphasize the ignorance towards other cultures.

Me thinks the famous warrior dance has touched a chord of deep seated ignorance within your lilly white linear world.
The Maori representation goes far beyond our Maori/ Niue halfback, this weeks test there is Cruden, Messam, Jose Gear, Luke Romano,Tamati Ellison and Israel Dagg, so who the ffark are you to judge who is or not Maori. In fact Boks will be playing a Maori this weekend.

I think it’s considered culturally insensitive to refuse them their curio “warrior” dance.

Never mind the fact that they have to play an obese Piri Weepu just so that they have someone vaguely Maori to cheerlead the troupe.
