Lions coaching panel in disarray
26 Jun 2012
Forwards coach Johan Ackermann has been officially appointed as the interim head coach of the Lions, with Carlos Spencer continuing his duties as backline mentor.
In the aftermath of John Mitchell’s suspension for his alleged brutal coaching methods, Spencer and Ackermann were last week handed the interim coaching role, a responsibility they would share. Spencer did not dispute this when keo.co.za spoke to him on Monday about the current dynamics at the embattled franchise.
However, it has since come to light that Ackermann has been appointed as the official interim head coach, with Spencer continuing in his role as backline coach.
‘I’m not sure when the decision was made, but I was made aware of [the new coaching structure] late yesterday morning,’ Spencer told keo.co.za on Tuesday. ‘I was only ever under the impression that I would continue to coach the backs.’
Should Mitchell get his marching orders, this could affect Spencer as well as fitness coach Wayne Taylor on a contractual basis. Spencer and Taylor’s contracts are linked to Mitchell’s contract, allowing them to leave the Gauteng franchise at will if Mitchell gets the axe.
‘I haven’t really thought about that to be honest,’ Spencer added. ‘I’m contracted to the end of the Super Rugby season. I guess I’m going to have to make some decisions over the next three weeks.’
If Mitchell and his coaching team are not retained, this would result in the GLRU having to scramble for a new coaching set-up before the Currie Cup, which starts on 11 August.

Ashwell been struggling over the last few seasons. I think his last big score was 150 against the Aussies at Newlands and half those runs came off Bryce McGain.
JP also offers some good old-fashion offy’s which comes in handy when you need to break a partnership.

Indeed he does.
but his primary duty is batting
But I can’t see him in the test team with two such glaring weaknesses.
especially against the best offspinner in world cricket.
But who knows.

Place chips on a serving platter.
Sprinkle cheese curds over the chips.
Then ladle beef gravy over the chips and cheese curds.
Serve immediately.

No, I rate Rudolph, especially in the English conditions he score a truckload of runs for Surrey.
And I thought Tahir was the best spinner in world cricket. He just came back from Pakistan. Had a few sessions with Abdul Qadir.

26 Jun 2012, 16:21 pm
Of course, if it is an authentic Quebec poutine…
…you can only use the Manitoba red potato, fried in Canola oil, with salted cheddar curds made in Quebec, with real Quebecois poutine sauce (which is essentially a flour-thickened chicken stock flavoured with onion and pepper).

The guy hiked the Chilkoot Pass once.
He had some hilarious stories about bears to tell.
Something to the tune of:
If you get chased by a black bear, the best thing to do is to run down a slope while zig-zagging, the bear will stumble over his own paws and fall over.
If you get chased by a polar bear…well, say your prayers.

Speaking of food, one of my favourite breakfast foods is shakshouka.
Eaten widely in North Africa and the Middle East.
Essentially you fry up some green pepper with some garlic, ginger, cumin and chillies, add some tomato and onion mix, then you add eggs on top.
The eggs are then poached in the hot tomato-onion mix.
Delicious, and perfect for a hangover.
