O’Connor doubtful for SA tour

James O’Connor has aggravated a hamstring injury and may miss the Rebels’ two matches in South Africa.

The Wallabies’ utility back made his comeback from a liver injury on Friday, but left the field with a hamstring complaint. O’Connor will undergo further scans to reveal the extent of the injury, but according to Rebels coach Damien Hill he is unlikely to be risked for the coming matches against the Lions and Stormers.

Meanwhile, the Sydney Morning Herald has confirmed that Rebels back Mark Gerrard will be returning to Japanese club rugby at the end of the current Super Rugby season.
