Sadie’s campaign over

A serious ankle injury has ended Bulls midfielder Johann Sadie’s involvement in the remainder of the Super Rugby season.

Sadie suffered a grade three ligament tear to his ankle in a training session last Wednesday and will be out of action for six weeks. The youngster has endured a difficult first season with the Bulls since his move from the Stormers, battling injuries and indifferent form. He lost his place to JJ Engelbrecht and has struggled to advance his cause for reselection.

Meanwhile, openside flank Deon Stegmann has recovered from a broken arm and will be considered for selection for Friday’s match against the Sharks in Durban. Prop Rossouw de Klerk is also back in training after sitting out for most of the season.

Bjorn Basson, Dewald Potgieter, Dean Greyling, Flip van der Merwe, Jacques Potgieter and Pierre Spies will sit out Monday’s training session due to minor ailments, but will be cleared by Tuesday.
