Blackadder slams bumbling Bryce

Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder is still fuming over Bryce Lawrence’s poor performance in Christchurch last Saturday.

New Zealand’s 2011 Referee of the Year failed to penalise Julian Savea for obstructing Tom Taylor, who was attempting to tackle Conrad Smith, which allowed the Hurricanes centre to score. Canes lock Jeremy Thrush was also in Luke Romano’s way in the lead-up to Smith’s second try just before half-time.

‘To me [Smith's first try] was not a try,’ said Blackadder. ‘If there was a TMO like rugby league, they wouldn’t have allowed it.

‘Even the second one [was dubious], when they had a guy in our defensive line as obstruction. But we weren’t quite on song and put our hands up and took responsibility for what wasn’t a very accurate performance.’

The Hurricanes’ 23-22 win brought them back into play-off contention and all but ended the Crusaders’ hopes of winning the New Zealand conference.

@rangerman(rangerman)-149: Kiwis are well represented inthe IRB and well versed in rugby politics.

A typical example, one of so many, is the treatment of Brad Thorn for a spear tackle on John Smit after the wistle vs Bakkies Botha clearing Adam Jones from a ruck with perfect tequnique. Then when the Boks try protest for an obvious injustice, they get fined. ~ go figure?

well SA were not good enough, fact is ABs have Boks number.
Boks again were the wooden spooners in the 3 nations.
They just beat Wales, just beat Samoa and lost to Ozzie yet you think they were
going to win the RWC lol

@Hurricane(Hurricane)-157: We are not saying they would have won, but everyone deserves a fair go at it. Previously SA has had the ABs measure in world cups (bar 03) and play a more conservative game that is condusive to knock out rugby, so there would have been a reasonable chance of SA beating NZ in the semis.

@Hurricane(Hurricane)-136: Wow, things heated up on here last night (our time), moving slightly away from this cute discussion is it fair to say that all of the Kiwi posters here have no respect for Bok rugby, beleive all Bok fans are huge whingers and hate all things South African?

  • 160.William Webb Ellis is now at home: Reply to this comment

Skeppie. just returning the love we were shown before our WC victory. the chorus of chokers, another 4 years etc showed no respect whatsoever for NZ or her rugby.

so I’m dishing it back to you guys. even now the najority of Saffas can only claim a rigged WC, that’s how much hurt the ABs have given your countrymen.

this kiwi has seen the “respect” Saffas have for NZ, and her better brand of rugby, so to answer your question YES.

Correct, everyone deserves a crack at the RWC. But as you know things happen, we know it does re 2007.

    @Skeppie(Skeppie)-159:
Not all Bok fans are huge whingers. Some really go over the top as to call corruption and cheating in IRB if the Boks lose a game. You never hear anything if they win. Remember this is only some supporters, just happens to be alot on here. And i sure as hell know us Kiwis can give a good whinge, but its what the passion of the game brings to some. Everyone is different.
Now about respect for the Boks, i was taught from a young age that the Boks were the best team in the world, remember my dad saying that as i had never seen an AB and Bok game. So unlike the youngsters of these days who are very lucky to watch to great teams battle it out each year, i didnt until later on in the Flower bomb tests.
So respect, i have alot towards Bok rugby. Some posters on here,no way.

    @Hurricane(Hurricane)-161:

I grew up believing that France was ‘the best’, as much for their style as their indomitable attitude and love of the game. Everyone knows SA cheated at home; the Lions (therefore UK & Ireland) were always cheated, the ABs were always cheated. SAs political ‘values’ were far too deeply rooted in superiority to allow any visiting team to even come close. Everyone knows this, it is fact.

France is, by far, the superior rugby nation to tour and visit. Its not all about the rugby, but of expressing their culture within rugby. It was never all about the rugby in SA. In France, they feed you their best boef, pour their finest bordeauxs and house you in countryside chateauxs. In SA, the inner-city hotel alarms were were set on constant, the tea was tainted and the prawns had maggots. And it was served with a smile.

Compare pre-isolation statistics with post-isolation statistics – that is all you need to know. SA Posters here will tell you that post-isolation stats are explained away by an IRB conspiracy of cheating referees, apparently incl even their own refs (Joubert in RWC Final – but only this match). But, remember, these posters grew up in an age of Afrikaaner refs, dodgy prawns and gold watches. Their own children will know their rightful place in the natural order of rugby life, we just need to lance the boil first.

    Interesting, France as the best.
You seem to have a Black panther style of writing, that is a compliment as well.
But I believe you may have kick started this thread again if any South Africans read it :-)

    LMFAO

you really dont know your rugby do you? can you please explain how SA has the wood over us in World Cups?

you beat us in 95 IN South Africa, in a match that went well into extra time, with our players visibly sick on the sidelines… that good old SA hospitality seen you home that day..

in 2003, we smaaked you guys big time in the 1/4 finals..

the only other meeting was when both teams were out of the running for the Cup, so it was a pointless game in the context of things. 3rd or 4th doesnt really matter does it?

are Saffa fans that bereft of victories over NZ that they will openly try to claim bragging rights with an example as ludicrous as the one youve set out in the post this responds too?

lol… such clutching at straws really is hilarious..

@RWC’11 was fixed(richardmarais)-156: not struggling at all, revelling in the fact we’re WORLD CHAMPIONS for the next four years… and really enjoying the massive, continuous whinge of Saffa fans who delighted when NZ got shafted in 2007 (telling us to harden up, that we should have kicked a drop goal with all that possession and that Barnes was a fair and competent ref)…

I am so glad it has come full circle so quickly, and I am going to continue to really delight in it every opportunity I get..

why dont you Saffa fans harden up? why didnt you, with all that possession, kick a drop goal? Bryce was a competent and fair ref, SA players dropped the ball or passed awry with the TRYLINE open on more than one occassion in that game vs Aussie..

the fact you guys still want to blame evryone bar your own teams inadequacy is music to my ears… long may it prosper..

    oh yes, ANOTHER FOUR YEARS!!

  • 168.Skeppie: Reply to this comment

@Hurricane(Hurricane)-161: Well all agreed then, there are some of our fellow countrymen who don’t understand the deep respect our players actually have for each other.

I don’t have a problem with the 2011 World Cup, even though I felt France was very unlucky not to cause a major upset that would have led to the abolishment of all World Cups (the Kiwis would have made sure of that, I am certain).

I have a problem with the 1987 and 1991 “World Cups”, and with people claiming victories in those as legitimate titles.

  • 170.William Webb Ellis is now at home: Reply to this comment

that’s where you’re wrong Skeppie. I was also brought up on the bok/AB rivalry. but after visiting this blog for 4 years now, the first one or two I nay add as a blogger who tried to talk rugby, the continual abuse showed me that there is no respect from a Saffa viewpoint for the rivalry.

so you can take your insult and shove it up your arrse.

@The Donkeys Egg(The Donkeys Egg)-162: Yeah… 95, the greatest RWC ever btw, was explained away by the “actions” of one Soozie… Respect?

And 07… Just luck, apparently, even though it was held in your admitted Rugby land of milk and honey, France.

And then you have RWC 11… France forever will know that they were superior in the Final… In all ways… From a glorious response to the Haka, which was actually fined by those “great” proponents of “fair” play – the Kiwis, to tackling the daylights out of the ABs, to being more imaginative in play, to Dusutoir – Player of the Year – embarrassing “Sir” Reechie in the elite, best of the best player stakes… Only to have the Rigged World Cup handed to them on a platter by… A Saffer.

Yup, Saffer refs are a disgrace, especially Craigie – of that you are right.

But France were done in… and of that you are also right… I reckon France are and should be the Bok’s greatest Rivals. Us Sharkies appreciate them Frenchmen… from Lacroix… to Roumat and now Fred the Shred Michalak… Passer of the ball that knocked the ABs flying, choking and spluttering, out of 07…

Boks and France – Central axis of the Rugby Globe…. These 2 Great Rugger Nations should get it together and Fuckthis North South bullshitt Anzac false dichotomy once and for all.
