of course… and i’m not suggesting there shouldn’t be checks and balances…

simply making the point that those who believe heyneke is using his position to lure kids to the bulls are way off the mark as he was not the bok coach when he chatted to most of these kids…

i also think unions could insist on players signing lock-in clauses which are pretty standard in business if a company is going to pay for an employee’s development or further education then they can lock them in for an agreed to period to ensure the company does at least get the minimum back for it’s investment…

if there are no checks and balances to open unscrupulous dealing and trading in any sphere whether it be elephant tusks or abalone shells the resource gets stolen for unethical gain by others who have not had to foster and nurture or develop it from source.

sure heyneke may have met a whole bunch of youngsters and sure he may have said they will be a bok one day…

but at the time he met these guys… he was NOT the bok coach and had no ideas he would be the bok coach..

all he was doing was showing the faith and confidence in the structures he has set up in pretoria that IF these guys joined the bulls they would have a better then equal chance of becoming boks…

nothing sinister in that at all… what should he have said… ‘if you join the bulls you’ll never be a bok…’ or ‘well if you’re lucky and gamble on us maybe if the chips fall right and you play your cards right you could become a bok’

no… he said… as any mentor would… ‘stick with me kid… i’ll take you to the top’… perfectly normal and understandable…

chillax about all this now… it is getting ridiculous…

Barend is a top flanker, but there are 6 others of similar class, with Barend ‘just’ pipping the other 6 for talent. Barend will not be playing Craven Week, nor will he be attending any Stormer camps – as the WPRFU will be focusing on the 6 who are staying Bad luck Barend.
