LEOPARDS RALLY PAST NAMIBIA

The Leopards broke down a 17-12 half-time deficit to beat Namibia 36-27 in the opening match of the tournament.

BORDER MAKE LIONS SWEAT

The Golden Lions had to work hard for their 26-14 win over Border.

The scoreline flattered last year’s losing unofficial finalists, who scored two second-half tries. Border created more try-scoring opportunities as they ran brilliant lines via their dangerous backs, but poor interplay saw them fall short of the chalk.

It was a closely contested first half, as Border trailed the Lions by two points. Border scored via wing Lilitha Jonas and the boot of scrumhalf Akhona Sihunu. The Lions held a slender lead, thanks to the boot of flyhalf Jako van der Walt and prop Frans van Wyk’s try.

    Imagine if the Paarl schools were part of Boland (not WP) – Boland wld be unbeatable. I hv always regarded Paarl as the heart of the Boland yet for Craven Week our schools are part of WP??? It makes no sense??

    @brains_trust(brains_trust)-4:

    The Paarl big boys fall under WP for rugby but Boland for cricket.

    Same with Paul Roos.

    Hell even ‘Boland’ Landbou plays for WP and not Boland? Paarl Gim and Paarl Boys’ are the #1 and #2 schools in SA and they dominate the WP team but they sld play for Boland.

    @willievz – I hear you but don’t u think it’s wrong? Half the school that make up the Boland team don’t even play in the Super A league and yet they still manage to field a decent side each year.

    Imagine a side selected from; Boland Landbou, Paul Roos, Paarl Gim and Paarl Boys – it wld beat the SA school side this year.

    @brains_trust(brains_trust)-7: Very wrong.

    Who said WP is not greedy ;)

    @willievz(willievz)-9:

    The schools themselves prefer to play in the WP as the competition is much stronger. in the WP “league” they can play against the likes of Bishops, Rondebosh BH, Wynberg BH, SACS, Tygerberg etc while Boland does not offer that depth in competition.

    @Robzim(Robzim)-10: HTS Drostdy’s players are picked for Boland, yet the play against almost every school you mentioned.
