Alberts, Lambie still in doubt

Alberts, Lambie still in doubt

Four injured Sharks players will undergo late fitness tests to determine their availability for the final game of the Super Rugby league.

Alberts (knee) and Lambie (ankle) are yet to recover from the injuries sustained in the Springboks’ second Test against England. They missed last week’s clash against the Bulls, and there is a chance that they will miss this Saturday’s game against the Cheetahs.

Lock Steven Sykes could be back from a knee injury this week, while flank Jacques Botes is another who could return.

The Sharks loose trio of Keegan Daniel, Marcell Coetzee and Ryan Kankowski was outstanding in the win over the Bulls, but coach John Plumtree will want to reintroduce Alberts before the start of the play-offs.

There isn’t another player in the Sharks’ squad who can provide the team with that kind of momentum. Alberts will be especially valuable in the knockout phase when gain line dominance is so important, and he’ll be expected to play for the majority of those 80 minutes. It is thus crucial that he gets some game time this week against the Cheetahs.

Lambie is the preferred fullback in the Sharks’ squad, and Plumtree will also be hoping that he gets onto the park this Saturday. The Sharks have a reliable goal-kicker in Freddie Michalak, but Lambie has an important line-kicking role to play from fullback.

Sharks have some pretty decent pack options going forward… 2nd row can start with a mix of: Du Toit, Marais, Bresler, Sykes…

My preference would be Sykes and Du Toit Loosies: Starters should be Kanko,

Daniel and Wrecking Ball Coetzee with Deysel and Alberts coming on in 2nd half… The option with Alberts either at 4 or blindside.

Relentless… I am actually feeling sorry for the opposing teams

    BOOM!

Going to be a schweet matchup this weekend… Wrecking Ball Coetzee versus Ratel Brussouw… The pretender and incumbent versus the vanquished champion…

Coetzee, well on his way to being the allrounder complete loosie, learning all the time… versus Ratel the specialist… the pilferer… the “Pest” to quote Phil Kearns.

I suspect King Heyneke will be watching this matchup with more than a little interest.

@Sasuke(Sasuke)-1: “Spent”? Who are you, Sharksgirl with another name?

Or just another one of those Sharksworld “supporters” proclaiming the need for excellence in some fuzzy future scenario as a justification for hoping “their” team loses… in order for the Coach to get fired…

Or you could just be another runofthemill KeoCapeCuntie just asking for a blogwalloping… Twat

    6) Tackles Coetzee
    7) The Bone Collector
    8) Daniel.

Deysel and Kanko on the bench.

@Kietzphat(Kietzphat)-5: Start Wrecking Ball Coetzee, Daniel the Lionheart and Turbo Kanko… With Bone Collector coming on in second half either as blindside or 4 lock…

Deysel too. I farken laughed when he came on and after losing the ball in one bulldoze he then flattened Jacque Potgieter like a cricket pitch under a roller…

    A beyootiful sight…

Cant wait until its done again when Sharks face the “top” conference “title” holders, the Stormers in the semis at New Brokeback Stadium

Sharks are actually peaking at the exact right time and are positioned excellently… The extra playoff game could actually work to their benefit, adding momentum to the cause before the semis… The only bad thing is the travel…

The best thing for the Sharks would actually be to face the Brumbies followed by the Chiefs and then possibly a final at Saders… To avoid excessive travel.

A tall order – but then again, beating the Bulls by 22 points and a 5 try bonus point is a tall order too.

Actually the Dynamite are team made for delivering tall orders and winning against all odds… It appeals to the true Shark, bananaboy psyche of never say die.

The Sharks must be careful not do rack up a high score. A bonus point might lift them up the ranks and potentially line them up against the Crusaders away.

Just read that some of the injured Shark players ran well on Monday afternoon. Lambie, Alberts and Sykes. Now they just waiting to see how they went in training today to see how they went.

@Sharks fans are genuine Bok supporters(Predawn)-16: Also if we land up on 6th we might have too much travel. Oz, SA and back to Nz. Also all the chasing pack play on the Friday or early Saturday. By that time we will know what is needed. Just think we must get on with it, can’t worry where we land up, that way we lose focuse and could lose like we done against the Lions. Just have to worry about beating the Cheetahs and that is all we must focuse on. If we need the bonus point then we have to go all out for it. Anyhow Cheetahs are a tough team to beat. Sure we beat them earlier this year, but that goes for nothing now.

Sharks really kicking themselves for that loss to lions, going to have to face Crusaders now just like last year,no chance in hell, bulls could suprise brumbies but unlikely with their away record.Injuries to catch up with stormers, hate to say it but looking like saders chiefs final.

  • 27.stormer in a teacup: Reply to this comment

If the reds win with a BP then the Bulls and Sharks will need to do do as well to stay ahead of them. They should both manage this.
