Clarke back for Cake Tin crunch

Chiefs captain Craig Clarke has been reinstated in the second row for the crucial final league match against the Hurricanes in Wellington.

The Chiefs have already won the New Zealand conference and secured a place in the play-offs, but will want to finish the league in that No 1 position. Winning in Wellington will go a long way to booking a home semi-final and a possible home final.

Coach Dave Rennie has made several changes, with prop Toby Smith replacing Sona Taumalolo on the loosehead side.

Jackson Willison returns to the midfield which sees Andrew Horrell shifting to fullback and Robbie Robinson to the wing. Lelia Masaga comes into the starting team on the other wing, and Tim Nanai -Williams is preferred as a bench option.

Chiefs – 15 Andrew Horrel, 14 Lelia Masaga, 13 Jackson Willison, 12 Sonny Bill Williams, 11 Robbie Robinson, 10 Aaron Cruden, 9 Tawera Kerr-Barlow, 8 Kane Thompson, 7 Tanerau Latimer, 6 Liam Messam, 5 Brodie Retallick, 4 Craig Clarke (c), 3 Ben Tameifuna, 2 Hika Elliot, 1 Toby Smith.
Subs: 16 Mahonri Schwalger, 17 Sona Taumalolo, 18 Michael Fitzgerald, 19 Sam Cane, 20 Brendon Leonard, 21 Asaeli Tikoirotuma, 22 Tim Nanai-Williams.
