Kings ease past Valke

The EP Kings easily negotiated the Valke 37-20 in their Currie Cup First Division match in Kempton Park.

The Kings remained unbeaten in the tournament thanks to three tries, all of them converted by George Whitehead. They lead 24-8 at the break and were never in danger of relinquishing that lead.

In Saturday’s other match, Kurt Coleman kicked the Eagles to a 22-16 victory over the Pumas in George. Coleman kicked four penalties and a conversion, with the score supplemented by a Johan Hernst try. The Pumas kept it close with tries from RW Kember and Renaldo Bothma ultimately they couldn’t get the decisive score.

On Friday, the Griffons stayed on top of the log with a 29-24 victory over the Bulldogs. The Griffons secured the win through tries by Reinhardt Erwee (2), Japie Nel and Werner Griesel.

In Malmesbury, the Leopards held off a late surge from Boland to win 23-21. The Leopards trailed 14-10 but a 13-point second half blitz gave them a lead they wouldn’t let slip.
